Can anyone tell me if it is alright to straight pipe an 05. My friend just got one and would like to know? Thanks in advance for your responses.

Say no to noise.

My friend straight piped his '05 and it ran and sounded lousy. We installed a Magnaflow 5" stainless system with muffler and it came out great. However,he wish he'd left it stock. Cost estimate for 5" cat. in case of future emissions here in Ca? $1500. 00. Consider leaving it alone.

i love the sound of my strait piped 05 ive been told it sounds like a big rig. it is very loud outside but on the inside its just alittle louder than stock.

Kinda sound you either love or hate. Personally I would find someone with a straight piped truck and listen to it first to see if you like it. I personally think it is to raspy, but that is my opinion and we all know what they are like. ;)

mlockner,

I've got an 05 and I got rid of the cat and went with the MBRP replacement muffler and love the sound. There is no drone and it sounds awesome when you get on it.

I have had several. I started with removing the Cat and muffler and putting an aeroturbine which I really liked but the muffler blew in half and I straight piped it for a while waiting for a replacement. I intend going over 500 HP so I just replaced with a complete 5" Magnaflow system which I like the best. Deep sound without being too loud and looks menacing.

Straight pipe it. If you don't like it, throw a straight through muffler on. I drove mine straight piped for a long time. I didn't really care for the rapsy sound but some loved it.

If you want loud, put some 6" miters straight piped... . We wore earplugs on the way to IRP. LOL :D

The stacks completely changed the way it sounds. Its really deep now.
