i have a 2004. 5 dodge 2500 with about 80k on it. in the last 2k miles i put a afe stage 2, removed the cat and muffler, and put a out of the box smarty. . (also a trango shft kit and oversize trans pan) this last weekend i put the truck on the dyno and put down 426hp and 910tq on level 9. . is that right for this truck and i only see 30 psi of boost (any level) is that right? also what are the different downloads like the stock, Mild, Moderate torque, and the

wild torque increase?? also the new beta. . is there a website that talks about this? also besides the trans. what can i due to the truck to get more safe power and is it safe to run the truck on level 9... with stock pump, stock injectors and stock turbo... should i look in to a fass pump. . or

thanks, chris

Chris,

You will want to look into an alternative lift pump setup and there are many options to choose. Everybody has opinions on what they run. The 04. 5 (unless replaced with the retrofit in-tank solution) has the filter mounted lift pump. They seem to work ok for the most part until you start deviating from stock.

That AUTO is going to slip and and or drop dead. No way you should be running level 9. You should not be over level 3 with your setup... Level 3 works like a CHAMP... This is just a suggestion for reliabilities sake,, but if you have to run hot,,, go for it!!!

Last, if you run anything above level 2, you should have an EGT gauge installed, as suggested, and or recommended above. Level 9 on a stock engine, transmission,,, that is living on the edge!!!

The different versions of softwares (stock, mild, etc. ) will affect the throttle responsiveness greatly. Moderate and above can smoke the stock transmission if you're not careful. I ran the moderate on #3 for a bit, but could definitely tell that it was taxing the transmission, so I backed off until I can beef it up.

i have Gauges egt, trans, and boost for now... fuel press. in coming. . boost?? should it change level to level i peak 30 psi. any level... what should i do next... fuel? (besides the trans) a full built trans is in the works...

What were the EGTs like running that much power on 30 psi of boost? That seems pretty low to me, I would have thought the smarty did some boost fooling. 30psi is stock boost for an 04. 5.

My '06 will make nearly 40 psi on the same turbo using either the 60 or 100hp settings on my Quadzilla. The EGTs can get up there on the 100 hp seting, I would guess you were pushing more fuel than me on #9.

Hey Chris, good to see you on here too! The Smarty is awesome, I will be running the Beta on the dyno Monday (ran outta time today)

EGTs are good... 75 degree day out WOT to 100mph+ (noload) never more than 1200... . why does the boost stay the same??? i emailed Bob 2 times no reply...

The out of the box smarty software is stock turbo/stock injector / mild tq mgmt... . will only boost to 30-32psi (same as stock)..... you have to download one of the "aftermarket turbo" versions to get boost fooling... . then you'll have no problem with 35-45psi depending on level / weather /... .

And on a stock trans definately keep to level 3, moderate driving with level 5... or your trans is on borrowed time.

An aftermarket fuel pump can wait until you get the trans beefed up and can use higher levels... .

anyone with an 04. 5 need to get a new beta software. There was an error in that version of beta software.

Thank you
