Hello to All, this is my first post to the Forum, although I have been lurking for a few months. Unfortunately, My engine is short a few valves and has 4 to many cylinders... Don't hold it against me for too long. The info you Guys and Gals post has helped me many times. Hopefully, i can cantribute valuable info as well.

Till Later...

Most people around here will tell you you have too many valves! I assume you have a v-10, you should set up your signature in the profile section. and you have to choose include when you type messages.

Let me see if my signature appears this time. I do have a V-10. When I ordered the truck a little over a year ago, I was not well informed about diesels. Had I known then... #ad

Jeff, you might as well start looking at new trucks now. You don't stand a chance with these guys. Save time and choose what color your new truck will be, do it now while your head is still clear. #ad

welcome and don't feel bad about the v-10... it's an awesome engine as well. i think everyone here can find something they wish they had done differently.

i wish i had gotten the 4wd on mine! i'll wait till 2003+ for the 4 door and get it right then. this will also allow some equity to build up so i won't be too upside down on the trade.

again welcome i'm looking forward to your input on the v-10 version RAM.

VeeTenJeff, welcome !!! I was riding the fence on either the V-10 or Cummins when I ordered my 3500. My gas mileage(or lack thereof) with my last Dodge, a 5. 9 360, helped me decide. You have a great truck/engine, enjoy the ride !!!

Welcome VeeTenJeff,
I also had a hard time choosing between the V-10 and the Cummins. My Dad had ordered a 2000 V-10 when I started looking at new trucks, but once I had the chance to drive the one I bought, I was HOOKED. Dad has been well pleased with his and I feel the same about mine. #ad
We joke around about chaining them together to see who would pull who, but the bottom line is we're both happy with our trucks cause we got what we wanted. Not to mention, even though some of the guys may give you a hard time, I think this bunch admires anything with "MORE POWER" (even drink blenders powered by a weedeater 2-stroke engine... ... ... What's up with that?) #ad

Anyway, they are always ready to help.

Don't get to comfortable with all this "you did a good job" stuff. My computer has diesel fuel driping from the corners every time I log on. These folks will eat you up. Sooooooooo... ... . Well-comeeee innnnnnnnn sonnnnn

Welcome aboard Jeff:

I was on the fence between V-10 and Cummins, but Cummins won out. I have a gasser '96 Ram that my wife drives that does good.

Any bets on how long 'fore Jeff get diesel fever?

Vee Ten,
Welcome to a group of people who have a lot of time spent with these trucks, and will bend over backwards to help out, and inform you of almost anything possible. I,ve met some interesting, and dedicated people involved with Dodge, and The Cummins.

I have been watching this site for about a year, thru these guys, and some local contractor friends, I was convinced what my next truck would be... . Way more than expected... It seems like I just can't drive it enough... #ad

I've already started looking at a Cummins. When my transmission started having issues, I started. I was pricing out the HO 6sp, but then I saw the posts with problems in these trannys. So, I'm kind of on the fence now. I do like the smell of the oily-stuff.

Even with all of the quirks that Dodge has, it's great to have to decide "do i want 450# of torque, or 520#..... " Decisions like that are welcome #ad

My only regret about this site is that I didn't arrive here sooner. What I have learned about my truck from others on this site,is by far, absolutely the best possible. Enjoy and sign on often. I look forward to reading about your V-10. Dave

I agree with Big D, I wish I would've learned of this site long ago. So many of the topics cover the truck in general regardless of what motor we have. Jeff, I hope I don't get banned for this, but you'll enjoy your v-10 also. I have had no problem with mine at all. The oil at 3000 miles is dang near as clean as when I put it in, this with almost 70000 on her. I'm only hoping my Cummins will pull as good as my current truck (only with better mileage) and I'll be more than happy. Have fun with your 10, Doug

Jeff, there are plenty of us around who have had no trouble at all with the six speeds so don't let that stop you. The last thing I should have done is buy a six speed(bum left leg after three surgeries and arthritus). But after auto transmission problems with my 92 Dodge(cummins) and a 99 POS-PSD with numerous auto trans problems, I couldn't bear another auto. Even with the occaisional pains pushing a clutch pedal, no regets buying a six speed.
