A Little Humor In The Sky

Mind Your P's and Q's

Well, after 2 months of waiting my new bike finally came yesterday. My size frame was backordered nationwide, so I had to try to be patient since they hand make all these babys. Took it out for a short spin yesterday and it was definately worth the wait!!

As for bombing... lighter is better. Since I spent a small fortune on this thing though, upgrades will have to wait a little while.

Of course, it snowed here (Western WA!!) last night so I won't be riding it outside for a while. That's OK, I'll do a snow MT Bike ride tonight.

Any other bicyclists here?

Good to hear I am not the only one pushing pedals here. I have Kestrel 500ci with 650c Spinergies. Tons of mods weighting in at 17. 6lbs. Do you compete in road racing or triathlons?

Eric

Bicycles can get spendy real quick. I have a Cannondale SV700 Carbon..... it is set up more for downhill than XC..... Magura brakes. . shorty stem. . and a few other realy beafy parts.

If I were to total up everything... I would guess over 3K.

joel, ever ride in Tahuya, Capital Forrest, or Tiger MT. ?

I've been out of mountain biking for a while now, about 3-4 years. I've been real busy with work, but before this I rode alot. I got a Trek carbon fiber full suspension Y-bike. I bought just the frame and built it. The best part is the wheels, Ti-Dye titanium spokes on Ti-Dye Mavic rims, spent almost a thousand on just the wheels. I'm guessing the whole bike was about 4,200.

no racing, just general fitness.

No racing. I'd like to maybe get to where I can do some of the long distance rides like STP or one of the AIDS rides. Yeah, I know about the controversy - I just want to be able to ride from Montreal to Portland, ME supported! I'm also planning on commuting to work 2-3 days a week, once I build up a base and I have more daylight to use.

The bike's a Litespeed Tuscany (3/2. 5 Ti) with full Ultegra, Mavic Open Pro wheels, Thompson Elite post, Flight Ti saddle etc etc. Haven't weighed it, but should be around 18 lbs or so (59 cm frame).

I also have a Specialized Enduro Pro for my off road activities. The road bike is to get me into better shape and peddling form so I can climb better in the mud! Well, than and I just hate running, so I need something to get me back in shape.

DF - haven't ridden those areas, though I've heard of them. I live less than a half mile from 3 or 4 access points to the Anacortes Community Forest Lands and no more than a 10 minute drive/20 minute ride from any of the 3 areas of the AFCL. Some good riding. I've also ridden some in B'ham (Galbraith, Padden, Chuckanut), Winthrop, and even Mt. St. Helens.

have not been to St. Hellens, but I will be this year..... my bike has gathered way too much dust lately. Are you going to the NW Bombers Pendelton BOMB party?

Tahuya rocks!

My in-laws have a cabin on the Hood Canal near Belfair State Park and we hit Tahuya all the time, especially in the summer... Lotta dirtbikes and horses though!

Done Tahuya on both dirt bikes, and mountain bikes..... it is much more fun with a motor :) fastest time on the whole Overland Trail was 45 minutes. . that was Haulin Butt.

Raced the BTB out there ... ... . while mountain bike racing is fun... the XC crowd sure whines a lot... ... ... downhill is much more fun!

Steve... if you ever get a chance do the Sun Top ride off forrest road 63 past Greenwater..... 21 Miles total. The first 7 miles is all up hill ... . close to 3000' gain in elevation... . the next 7 miles is all downhill single track back to the river..... then you follow the river back to the trucks.

This is a very technical ride, and has destroyed a few bikes and almost killed a buddy of mine. . (only thing that saved him from falling to the bottom of the canyon was bashing his shin on a log). . it is a blast !

Joel and others!

It's great to see other cyclists on the site! Congrats on the purchase Joel... you'll be very happy for years to come... but speaking from experience... I think bikes (road or mtb) are ALMOST worse than our trucks... can't leave em' alone, always have to have the newest and best stuff (I'm not complaiing)! I used to race Road and XC MTB, but like others mentioned... work is taking up way too much time. Currently in the stable I have a Giant TCR-1 Road bike, Kona Jake The Snake Cyclocross bike, Kona Kula MTB, and VooDoo Bizango MTB. I better get off the computer and go ride... . that's right... . it did snow here again today in the Seattle area... maybe I'll just stay on the TDR a little longer and think about more Bombing!

Have fun, -Ken

Nice bike! I read in a Bicycling magazine one time about a guy who bought a titanium frame/bike. His wish upon his death was to be creamated and buried in his bike frame. He new his remains would be in tact forever.

I have a 10th anniversay (1990) Eddy Merckx TSX frame with Durace (1990 vintage) from hub to hub.
