My neighbor just bought this ... . His main worry is that I may sneek over and take it for a drive... Not a bad looking rig for having nearly 1,000,000 miles on it...
I know for sure that it has a Cat. . and it does have air ride. . but any of that other information ... . I will talk to him tonight for details. He bought the truck for work. . It came as a package deal with truck and 53' flatbed. This will tell you how much I know about trailers... the trailer has one of those split axle setups or whatever you call it.
The truck looks as clean in person up close as it does in the picture and the inside is just as clean.
Last night we were sitting in it looking at all the buttons, switches and how clean it is(hours of detailing by new owner). When we got out. . I could hear an air leak. . and I told Sammy that I could an air leak. . and he smiled and said its ok. . its just the air ride system dropping the pressure back down. .
the axel can carry 20K each split that way. . other wise it only 18k total an axel if memory serves me right [haven't driven HD for a while. . back in early 80's]
Don't feel bad, I'm not too knowledgeable at all on the class-8 trucks at all. I just know that I want one real bad to cruise around in... rowing through all 18 gears without using the clutch.

Or as folks from the south say: " `mon-back, `mon-back... ya'all got heaps of room, yet!"
If I had a neighbor with a truck like that - he'd pay to keep me away from it... I'd always be checking it out.
I am already working a deal for him to teach me to drive so that I can get my class A lic. even if I dont ever use it. This truck even has bunk beds in the sleeper.....
It is a model 379, probably a 3406 Cat. You might win a drive in it by throwing that out there to show him what you know. When driving it empty shift that big Cat at about 1200 r. p. m you wont beleive the torque!
It is the 379 with the 3406 Cat with an 18 speed. . I think he does this just to make me drool.
I told him I wanted to use is to pull my 5th wheel... he just laughs... He just picked up a 53' air ride van trailer and he will be keeping the 53' split axle.
The way that I have been working on getting to drive is that he wants his set of 'Air Chimes' installed and some more lights put on his headache rack. Should be a drive in there somewhere dont you think.
I want to be in the truck when he pulls up next to barbi and lets the air chimes talk

That's really cool. I was pretty close to doing a similar deal like that with a friend of mine... but when I was ready - he went bankrupt and lost all his trucks. It's too bad - he had loads of work literally piled up (pun intended) and was too lazy to work weekends to get his business off the ground.
On Saturday I spent 3 hours helping replace the factory dealer mud flaps on his split axle flat bed trailer. Sammy. . brought the trailer and parked it in front of his house so it would make it easier to get to. After we got all the tool and ourselves cleaned up we went for a little spin so he could park it out of the neighborhood. I say a little spin. . I think it was about 3 miles or so.
We stopped out on the back road to see how the flaps were hanging just to make sure they were straight and level. I think we looked a little goofy standing out there looking at the flaps but hey you have to make sure your hanging well!!!!!Sorry!!!
After Sammy was satisified that all was well with our job. . he said OK. . here you go. . its your turn to drive! I wont go into the bodily function noises that I experience at that moment just at the thought of being able to drive.
Anyway to make a long story shorter. . that is an experience that I will never forget. The power that this truck has is unbelieveable and how smooth it shifted. And yes. . I did float the gears and even split them out. I started out in low side of first and then when I went out of 5th. . I went back into first on the high side. .
I just had to share this... . WOW what an experience. .
