A friend of mine which is a Jeep tech just got back from training and was telling me that dodge will be going to a 6speed 68RE auto to put behide the cummins, and also be putting a 6. 7L cummins in a 1. 5 ton truck. Thats all he was told. I wish I had more info, but it's better than none. Hope you guys enjoy the good news.

Thanks for the info

One things for sure... If the meduim duty does come out, I'll have an order in that day, i'll be getting one just to BOMB!!

woo-hoo!

I wonder if that will be a 68RE, based off the 46,47 and 48 RE older school trannies or a 68RFE fully electronic based off the 45RFE and 545RFE. From what I've heard, the 45RFE was originally concepted to be behind the CTD, but it was "detuned" for the gassers.

My guess is that it will use 4 gears to get to 1:1 and then 2 O/D gears, which should be a real nice setup. Now if we could only have a center console and Auto Stick with her, it would be perfect!!

He said it was basicly a beefy 545 like in the grand chrokee, and that they had not had any problems with that trans so far. Think it's made by warner-asian or borg/warner-asian.

It is based off of the 545. Not an asian warner, or borg design. Will be made in Kokomo, Indiana. If you really want to salivate, think of a 79REM(Rear wheel drive, Electronic, Manual) THis is a trany shifted by servos, no torque convertor. I don't think it will fly, volumes are too low and the machining for that many gear sets is very costly.

I have been seeing what appears to be a 1. 5 ton truck with front end camo around the Ann Arbor, Mi area. It has a flat bed on it with weights on the flat bed. The reason I think it is a 1. 5 ton or bigger is because it has the 19. 5" wheels in it and larger rear axle. It ususally is running up and down US 23 early in the morning on my way to work.

Udaloy,

I can try to but it is hard to figure out when I will see it next. I have seen it at 4:00am and at 10:30pm on different occasions. My parents neighbor is a mechanic/ test driver at the proving grounds and he has said that they have been testing some sort of medium grade truck over the last 4-6 months. He said he doesn't know much about it because he does car stuff. So if anybody who reads this and lives in SE Michigan keep a eye out for a white med. duty dodge with a aluminum flat bed on it and front end cover to camoflouge what it is.
