Greetings! Whilst removing the front drive shaft to replace squeaky u-joints, I noticed a wetness along the bottom, front of the transfer case. Turns out there is a crack in the case itself and is the source of the wetness. So, lucky me, I need a new transfer case.
Does anyone have any experience with National Differential out of Colorado Springs (one hour drive from home)? They offer rebuilt NP t/cases with new guts for $1650. I won't be able to take advantage of the core return because of the crack. So tack on another $600.
My silver lining is I feel like I've gotten my money's worth out of the drivetrain components at 299,981 miles. Yeah, missed it by THAT much!!!
THANKS! Matt

Just make sure it’s an actual crack, sometimes the aluminum cases have casting marks that look like cracks. It wouldn’t be uncommon for the seal to need replacement at that mileage causing the leak.
Why not just buy the case half and hop over the internals?
That's one of the options Ozymandias. I still need to get it off the truck so we can open it. It's early in the game since I discovered it last night. I'm researching parts while it continues to rain here. Been raining since the snow melted...
It's definitely a crack Signal73. There is no path of wetness from any seal to where the crack is. I can scratch along the crack with a scribe and it and feel the jagged metal and see the fluid on the point.
