new transmission, leaking pan, getting frustrated

For whatever reason I have horrible luck with transmission pans, I have great luck with diff seals, but that's a different topic. My old pan leaked a lot, I replaced the transmission for other reasons with a Goerand transmission and after fighting a dipstick leak which I though was the only leak now this pan clearly leaks as well. I have snugged up the bolts three different times now and it is still leaking a fair amount of fluid. Does anyone have any tricks for this besides going to a $$$ aftermarket pan with stiffer rails? I am quite opposed to even using a little rtv on this gasket. From what I can tell Dave uses a reusable gasket which should be the best on the market as I understand it but it will not seal.



Oh by the way I have sung the praises before but this is the best transmission I have ever driven and that includes a large number of fast cars.

If the pan gasket is qork, do not use rtv or any other sealant because it will push the gasket out when you torque the bolts. If you didn't do that then make sure you didn't over torque the bolts because that can cut the gasket. Third thing is if it still leaks then pull the pan and take a straight edge over the flange and make sure its not puckered at the bolt holes, but thats only with a stock steel pan. But still check the flange. If it isn't any of the above then look for leaks elsewhere.
 
I have used gask-a-cinch on a lot of valve covers with good luck, all it is is a contact cement. I might consider this. It is not a cork gasket, it is definitly a rubber gasket.
 
That sounds similar to 3M 1300L. I have used that for adhearing rubber and it works great. I never used it for seal like that but that may work.
