Truck seems to be running OK. Had the transmission put in today.

I like the way it drives but my concern is the codes that were tripped. Were getting ready to go home for Xmas a 750 mile trip one way. The transmission is a DTT and my thinking is that when the voltage regulator was installed it might have caused the codes. Your thoughts please. I hate the Idea of getting stranded on the way to New Mexico on Xmas Eve.

One other issue. We had recently bought a bigger Fifth Wheel Trailer. On the trip home from Sacramento by way of Reno Nev. we had issues with the transmission slipping.

Our excuse to buy the DTT. We also had a code triggered,1693 and 0216. I did have an issue with high RPM

when downshifting on a steep grade and I thought maybe

that created the codes tripping. I seem to remember reading a post where someone had that issue and there truck was still running 2 years later with no injection pump problems. Sorry for the long post. Just trying to avoid any problems on this trip.

Thanks to All

Merry Xmas

Mike

P01693 DTC Detected in PCM/ECM or DTC Detected in ECM

P01740 TCC OR O/D Solenoid Performance

P0217 Decreased Engine Performance Due To Engine Overheat Condition

I don't know how all these codes are interlinked. Do you have a smart controller? I know it will trip a few codes.

The P0217 is the one I would worry about.

Ditto to that concern over the PO217. My Ca. truck sets off the CEL light and trouble codes with the exception of the aforementioned code since having the DTT and smart controller installed. It runs great but demands a piece of electrical covering the light. I periodically scan for other codes but so far so good.

Thanks for the response guys. I think 0217 was triggered a week ago when I flushed the radiator and put in new coolant. Baja what exactly is the CEL light and when did it come on. How do you cover it. What type of scanner are you using and would you recommended it. Did you clear the codes with your scanner. Im also thinking of going to an exhaust brake with the DTT controller. Does the PAC brake do the job for you.

Sorry for so many questions but with the new transmission Santa might have to come back again in July.

Thanks

Mike

CEL is Check Engine Light. Believe he put a piece of electrical tape over it to block it from view. :D

Don't know what scanner he is using, but you can always stop by Autozone once a month.

you can check for codes w/o a scanner, turn the key on-off-on-off-on w/o starting and the codes will be displayed in the odometer window.

:( :( Tape. Now Im beginning to get the picture. I talked to Bill at DTT and he pretty much said the same thing only he was going to charge me $60. Bill told me about the codes

and explained how to clear them. He even gave me his cell phone # in case I had a problem.

Cleared all the codes but 0217 and I am still thinking its related to when I flushed the cooling system and changed the thermostat. The truck seems to be driving fine. Any thoughts on the 0217 code.

Thanks

As confirmed above ,CEL light is Check Engine Light. My light has been on since the installation of the smart controller and Pacbrake. I use an inexpensive pocket code reader by Actron which can clear codes but they instantly come back with the smart controller. The transmission alone won't set off the CEL. Ca vehicles are real picky. Pacbrake works super and all work was performed by Fred Swanson@Desert Diesel Parts. You can PM him for info as he's still building his website. Electrical tape is my savior.

Mike, What's Bill K. Have to say about codes? He's the DTT man and you should ask him. Regardless of whether you think the codes are trans related or not he should be able to help at least knowledge wise. A phone call is cheap. Bills a good guy and helped me with a few trans questions a few years back, way before I was even a customer - DTT this past summer :D

I have an "OBD II AutoScanner" I picked up on sale at Sears for just under $100 about a year ago. It reads and clears DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) I think it's made by "actron", model #CP9135. There's many readers out there. Good luck on your trip.
