I am looking for opinions on whether to run my stock auto till it dies, then go for the new aftermarket transmission. Or do the Valve body TC upgrade now since the stock trany has no problems.

Depends on how much power you are making. I would say just do it once, but then again, I hear the "tweaks" really help the stock trannies. I decided to just run this stock one until it gets bad because the OD bands will never handle good power unless you get the whole transmission done.

Run it 'til it drops... when I had Bill K do the swap on mine (80k+ miles), my Amsoil came out brown and smelling quite "burnt". Obviously was on it's last leg (or maybe down to the toe). DTT is the way to go when your's finally lets loose, IMO, nuthin' better out there, an amazing difference, and you won't find better customer service!

Love those '95's! I've got a good one too! Looks like you haven't got a lot of miles on yours. I got mine with 57,000 on the clock and got an ATS Stage IV when it turned 107,000. It is the BEST thing I ever did to my truck. I've got about 140,000 on it now with no problems except stuff flying out of the overhead cubby hole when I put my foot in it.

With ATS you can get just the V. B. & T. C. now, and then when you need a rebuild you can get the rest of the Trans upgraded to High H. P, specs. I was very happy with the ATS Stator--gooses my truck off the line now like a bat out of you-know-where instead of slogging slowly forward! Here is a thread I posted when I got back from ATS 2 years ago. But you don't have to drive there--they have hundreds of shops around the country who can do their installs.
