I currently have a 05 Dodge quad long bed with the 48re... Thinking about trading in for 6spd... Or should I just beef this 48re up to hold... . I am just running a bigger turbo, intercooler, Afe stage 2, triple dog(crazy larry), just wondering if it would be worth it to trade to a 6spd or just pay the money and have this transmission built... . THANKS in advance

I'd say have a good quality automatic built for you by one of the top name venders and enjoy your '05. You will probably loose much more in depreciation, than it will cost you to pay for a full on built auto.

considering you would have to put in a heavy duty clutch anyhow to hold the power why not jsut build your transmission with DTT or one of the other guys and have much more fun than with a shifter lol...

Doughboy,

I love my 6 speed. Of course its an NV5600 coupled to a 4. 10 rear, but I love rowing through the gears, both ways. So it takes me three shifts to go through an intersection! But it is one hell of a tow vehicle for my 29' 5'er.

But, I'd have to agree with some of the other posts. Unless you absolutely have to have the 6 speed, stay with the auto set-up and have someone build you a heavy duty transmission. Taking into consideration the loss on trade-in, I think you'd be ahead of the game $$$$ wise.

Whatever you do, do have a good one.

Get the auto!

Shifting is great, but an auto is much more fun, and a whole lot quicker.

If I didn't have so much wrapped up in my truck I'd have an auto '06 in my garage.

I really like my 06 with the 6 spd. My last cummins also was a 6 spd. I had a chance to go aut on the new truck but I like shifting gears. I think it is what YOU like.

I wanted a 6 sp. , but when you buy leftovers at a cheap cost, guess you take what you get. My thaught is, I like the 48RE, and when mine is paid off, i'm going for either a Suncoast or ATS transmission.
