Hey yall,

Long time reader, first time poster. Just got the truck from the dealer and am wondering if there is anything I need to check out on the truck to make sure it is as perfect as it seems to be. I know there was a red cap near on the fuel line a short time ago.

Also how do I check if it is a 2001 or 2001. 5?

I know it helps the break in period to start hauling right away, but is there anything else that can be done since I have nothing to haul?

Anything else yall can think of would be great (besides run from the BOMB Bug).

Check out the sig for detals.

The 2001. 5 designation is something we use here on the bulletin board. If you tell the dealer that you'll get a "Huh" look. Does your truck have 4 wheel disc brakes? If so your a 01. 5.

Since you have nuthing to haul, just make sure first couple hundred miles you try to vary the RPM's, don't be afraid to run it upto the redline. It will just take a lil longer to braek in with nuthing to haul. That being said I would wait until 15,000 to 20,000 miles before changing to synthetic oil if you decide to.

Other then that just check your fluid levels, and drive the heck out of it and have fun.

You may want to look at this new vehicle inspection check list on Fritz's web site at http://dodgeram.org/buying_info/Inspect.htm

Enjoy

Thanks for the heads up on this web site, a lot of good stuff on there. Looks like I'll be busy in the drive-way after it cools off. I think I will also try and remove the slincer ring on the turbo. This wont void the warrenty already would it? I've heard about how harsh some of these dealers are.

AJB,

Too bad you don't have a 5ver hitch in it. I'd be glad to break it in for you by hitching up our 5ver and taking it over to New Braunfels next week - you know, anything to help out a fellow TDR member! ;) :)

Rusty,

Thanks for the offer. The turck has a reciver hitch on it, but no need for a 5ver. If anybody else around the area has anything that I could tow around the block, and show me some tips on how to remove the slincer ring on the turbo, let me know!!!:)

About your commit about helping out fellow TDR members, I've noticed how close you guys really are over the past 6 months that I've been researching diesel trucks, by reading you website. I think that this is great, and can't wait to help in any way I can!!

AJ,

Take a look down under the Local Events folder. Okie-Go is setting up a breakfast get-together at the Cracker Barrel located at I-45N and Airtex at 7:00AM on 7/22. That would be a good opportunity to meet some of the locals if you could make it!

new braunfels

I hope someone can help me out here, I was just in the area yesterday, floating down the river, passed by a accessory shop, had lifted looked like a 95 out front. Can anyone tell me what they carry inside. Also I thought that rown's welding and manufacturing was in New Braunfels, if so can someone give me some directions to it. I will probably be going back down there on monday.
