For the folks who picked up their new trucks--what checklist did you use or did you use any checklist at all? What did you look for, check for etc before you drove your truck off the lot?

Thanks

I use the same dealer and have bought several from them..... I just drive it off the lot and don't worry... . I'm not picky about paint and trim..... If you are you need to go over those parts with a fine tooth comb as once you drive off its hard for them to help with damage... ... Also if you order with a tow package look for the connector to the brake controller... . and any other parts you might loose...

My walk around is less than 10 minutes and I drive it away... . on the other hand if its for my wife... . she's much pickier than I am and she usually spends an hour looking and asking questions.....

BUT, since your in (from) Kodiak and you have to ferry this thing to and from service... . which I assume based on your location..... I'd give it at least an hour on the lot... . and drive it for bit before I loaded it on the ferry... .

Hope this helps...

Thanks. I am on an island so getting warrenty work from a dealership will mean a ferry ride to the mainland and then a 200 mile drive from there. Had a Dodge dealership on island but due to some shaddy practices they closed. (Good thing--I would have never taken the truck there to get work done). Got a local repair shop that may be able to do warrenty work and I trust the mechanic there. So if and when I get my new truck I wanted a new vehicle checklist and I finally found one on this website: http://dodgeram.org/buying_info/Inspect.htm

Given I will buy from Adam (Dishman Dodge) and have him drop ship to Anchorage or Fairbanks (longer drive) I want to make sure everything is up to snuff before leaving the lot.

Thanks

I have been to Kodiak and loved it. Not too many roads there to put very many miles on your truck. It may pay you to take it to the dealer in Anchorage or Fairbanks to have them check it over. You want it checked over very carefully. Check all the fluids, serpentine belt, tires including the spare. Make sure everything works. Get under the truck with a set of wrenches and look for loose bolts, check the lug nuts. Check everything on the inside, power seats, windows, door locks, wipers, turn signals, horn. Use the Owner's Manual as a check list of all the options. Maybe you can borrow Jim's fine tooth comb.

1 more thing to check My 06 had the wrong owners manual. It was for a gas not diesel. Dealer got me a new one and a service log for diesel.

Same thing happened to me when I took delivery of my 95. I got a gas engine Owners Guide. So I called the dealer and got one for the Diesel Engine.
