Well, Now I've seen everything! The local dealer in Mesquite, TX, Chapperel Dodge has about 10 new 2500 and 3500 trucks in. Unfortunately, I won't be buying any of them. I checked them out last night. On EVERY one, they added the color coded bug shield, the Mopar drop in bed liner, and one other thing that I forget, could have been the paint protectant, but on all the trucks they raised the price $1995 for this crap. I guess they feel that their built in money is not enough.

Are you sure its the dealer dong this. My new truck came from the factory with the chrome hood deflector and under rail bedliner. I am pretty sure these were factory items the window sticker had the items listed.

You can factory order the bug shield and the under-the-rail bedliner. I think together they add up to less than $300 (invoice price). That paint protection must be something pretty wonderful to cost $1,700!

There's 2 ways to look at this: (1) that extra price will immediately go away once they understand you were not born yesterday, so no harm done or (2) even though the price will go away, they've let you know up front how they view thier prospective customers so they've done you a favor. There are some good dealers and they're not one of them.

Howdy,

$1995 for add ons:--) WOW:eek:

Here in PA I have not seen an add on sticker at any of the Fhilthadelphia area dealers. I don't think you could ever have that many goodies installed by the dealer that cost that much except for a snow plow or dump bed. Really rattle their cage and say "take off the extra options or give them to me as a gift". See what that gets ya;)

Each and every truck has an additional pink sticker listing the three add ons and the additional $1995 which is not listed on the factory sticker.

When I had the 2000 CTD 2500, I went to this dealer exclusively because they gave such great service at fair prices. I am strongly considering a new 03 CTD 3500 SRW LB, but I do not want the $1995 add ons. So, I will go elsewhere to buy and perhaps continue to go tehre for service. We shall see.

Can't hurt to do what WMeyers said: go in and see if they'll deal. You can tell them you'll pay invoice price for the bedliner and bug shield (if you want them, nothing if you don't) and maybe you'll give 'em a few bucks for the paint protection if you think it's worth anything. As you've said, they aren't the only game in town so if they won't deal then you can move on. At the worst you will have wasted a little time but you'll also have some more information before dealing with the guys down the street. Oh, and don't burn the bridge behind you, the guy down the street may be worse.

In the end, you can always order one from the factory with only those things you want.

Give Bossier Country a call. I've had one of theit 03's for a few days now. I had to call them the day after I got it and see how much this truck is gonna cost me. I was quite surprised when they knocked almost 5 grand off the sticker.

Now, all I gotta do is sell the 97 and go order my new 03 in Graphite Metallic. Oo.

Joe; Check out www.markroberts.com .

They sell at invoice plus $49 processing fee. I ordered my 03 Ram 3500 QC, DRW, LB, CTD in Garnet Red from them, having it 'Drop Shipped' to a dealer near me. I did a lot of research and checking befofe I ordered and heard nothing but good things about them. They even gave me the $440 'Regional Discount' the factory allows them. No high pressure . I couln not wish to be treated any better, and I am the type to not trust any auto dealer. My sales person is Billy Wells. You can also call them at 1-800-375-5377.

I got my previous truck, a 95 2500 QC Ram from a local dealer and went to them for this 03. They too wanted top retail, added extras, (bed liner, paint protector, $250. 00 processing fee, etc) I ordered from Mark Roberts Motors and am having it shipped to this local dealer. They were not happy when I showed them the Thousands I saved , but I got a hell of a lot of satisfaction letting them know they can't rip off everyone, and to recomend others to dealers like Mark Roberts.

$2,000 for the 3 add on's is crazy: bug deflector $63

bed liner $123 no paint in world worth $1,800

If really like truck tell them you'll give them $350 for the x-tras

or tell them to take them off.

That's the problem with the stealers in the DFW area... they put big ole ads in the newpapers promising $10,000 off MSRP and in teent tiny print there is always the phrase "plus dealer add-ons". Randall Noe in Terrel was REALLY bad about it when I was looking for my '02... that same pkg, bug shield, bedliner, and pinstripe went all the way up $3995 at one point. I told them to bite me and went north to Bonham. Told them I was going to play games, they said if I don't want it, they take it off and I don't pay... bought my '02 that day.

I second this dealer. They seem to have their head on top insted of their arse. If they don't do what you want, call Henson in Madisonville, that's where i went!

reading about everyone's experience with the dealers, here's

a good one: Go into test drive 03' 2500 4x4 ho 6spd, take it out

thought running out of diesel, but instead some computer worth

a few hundred was shot. Tell service guy maybe look at ford.

my gen 1 has 215k never problem this 78 miles need major work.

still waiting for them to fix so I can finish my test drive, almost a week. Anyway I've great things about BOSSIER COUNTRY ask

for DEANNA pretty sure their in Texas, also BOB MARTIN at MIKE

MARTIN dodge.

bossier 800-bossier

martin 800-657-8720

and maybe that guy BILLY WELLS 800-375-5377

good luck.

This is easy!

I've bought vehicles in the past that had dealer add-ons. That's one to the first things to go in negotiations. If they don't want to, forget 'em and go to a dealer who wants to do business.

I've had better luck with the small-town dealerships who depend a little more on repeat busniness.

My 2 cents,

Wiredawg

P. S. My new 02 I bought in August didn't have squat on it that I didn't want.

When I bought my truck it had the extra bedliner and something else as a dealer add on, I told them I didn't want those and I wasn't going to pay for it, so they could take them off. They took one of the things off, but left the bedliner in, and took both off the price. So just tell them you don't want the add ons and they can take them back.
