Just bought this 5. 9 HO after my 89' Ford 7. 3 motor went on me. This is the best truck I have ever owned and it pulls great. It has so much power compared to my previous truck. I contemplated on the transmission for a little while and I am glad I got the 6 speed. Mileage is great too. 12. 8 towing 7000#. Just had the towing mirrors FINALLY put on today. DC finally made a good mirror.

Thanks

Welcome

These trucks get better with more miles.

I like towing with cruise on 70mph and everybody passes you on the flat ground till you get to a hill and you catch them up. :D :D

Have fun

I know I do!!

new truck

you should like it more as time goes by. just about all of the nonbiased owners on tdr develop affection for their trucks. i am glad i passed on the phord and shivvy, and got the goat.

BEWARE! BOMBitis will probably strike. parts will fall off--muffler, resonator, silencer ring, air snorkle. gauges reading funny data--boost, egt, fuel pressure, etc will appear, and your grin will get bigger... ... ... . :D

welcome, and enjoy... ... ... .

Thanks for all your input guys. I just came back form a trip up north 730 miles round trip. I filled up at 550 miles because I was not sure if how much further I could go on a little over 1/8 th of a tank. On the 550 leg I got 21. 5mpg which was mostly freeway (90%) which I calculted by hand. The tank took 25 gal (its a 35) and completed the last leg of my trip, 183 miles. Filled up again at home and calculated 23. 5 mpg. I was amazed at these #'s. Looks like 600 to 650 miles on a tank is possible. This was mostly 65 mph and no A/C.

Will the edge EZ mess up this mileage???,

Do you really need the EGT gage w/ this mod???. I know it is important to have the gage but I like not having to look at it right now and not having the worries. All I did was "white Knuckle" it on the hills in my 7. 3 Ford w/ banks turbo. Driving is so comfortable now with the new truck.

again, thanks for all your help

Ramon

The edge-ez will help mileage a little, as long as you can keep your foot from being on the floor all the time enjoying the extra power!:D As for exhaust gauge it is a good idea even if it is totally stock, but edge says that you will be ok with exhaust temps and a gauge isn't mandatory, but I still would put one in. My temps went down using the boost elbow too.

On the turbo is a 90 degree fitting that has a rubber hose that connects to the wastegate. you take the rubber hose off and the factory metal 90 degree fitting out and replace with the one that comes with the Ege-Ez kit and hook up the rubber hose again, they give you a hose clamp to tighten the factory hose up with. This will let the turbo make more boost and more power. Hope this helps.

first tow

I just got done with my first long trip towing. I tow a 4000 lb trailer and we went 4000 miles. Had plenty of power and wound up getting 16 mpg to boot. I went over 10,000 miles during the trip. I'm very pleased with the performance.

Thanks Floor It,

I get the elbow thing now. Sounds like the EZ is easy to take off before bringing to the dealer, don't know about the elbow though. Don't want to void my 5 year warranty which is one of the reasons I bought a new truck over used.

Thanks again. :)

I too bought a 6 year extended-warranty and the EDGE-EZ is easy and simple to remove and the boost elbow isn't really that hard to remove. Trust me the extra power of the EDGE-EZ will shock you and I just checked my in-town mileage and I gained 1. 9 mpg, this little box is amazing!

Thanks for all your tips and encouragement Floor It. I suppose the pillar mount would be good for the gages. I used Banks gages in the past. Don't know if Banks has the fuel pressure gage.

Any other recommendations on gages?? Do you have any pics of your gage setup??

I would imagine one would need boost, egt, and fuel pressure. Need to talk to the acccounting department (wife) on the EZ setup with gages:rolleyes:rolleyes:

gauges

after looking at several gauges, i think i've settled on the westach gauges. can get dual gauges in each one, so one for boost and egt, one for oil temp x 2 and one for fuel pressure x2. 3 gauges = 6 sets of data... ..... now to just get the money together and buy the darn things. :)

Hey MrFixit check out genos garage, they carry pillar posts and all kinds of gauges and all sorts of stuff for are trucks. It's an awsome selection!:D
