New truck! funny trade in story

Well, I finally broke down and traded in ol' Blue for a new 04. 5 ram w/ 600 cummins and automatic. This thing is awesome! It's 200% better than my 01. 5 ever was. The brakes are much more responsive, power is incredible, and the ride is great! I really like the new interior. The new automatic transmissions are great too!



I traded in "Blue Thunder", my 01. 5 3500 for it. The poor gal has been having problems for months, so I decided it was time to do something about it. The wife and I drove to several dealers, and found the one we wanted... almond color, 4x4, Quad Cab shortie. Since I don't hotshot anymore, we don't need a long bed. So, we get into negotiations, settle on some figures, and sign the papers. We go and clean out Blue, as the salesman jumps in to move it around back. About the time he rounds the corner, the truck shudders and dies. Would not restart. Tech comes out to check it over... injection pump cratered. The saleman was . Ahh the sweet irony. Just moments before, the salesman thought he had me screwed. Guess I got the last laugh :-laf

Congrats Gizmo. Many of us here in the Northeast with trucks on order are waiting to experience what you are.



There are NO 600 trucks on the lots of the largest Dodge truck dealers here in the Philadelphia suburban area. None to be found. I'm at 10 weeks and counting on my order.



I know what you mean about your old truck. I'm hoping my lemon Ford makes it.

I was temted to disable my 02 after the trade for the 04, but I felt bad enough for trading it in without saying bye. I really like my 04 but if I could go back to October I would still be in my 02 "not so old blue". Good to hear your story, sorry, read your story.

LOL @ James. Yeah, maybe. Right now we have a baby on the way, so my upgrades have come to a halt... for now . The transmission in Thunder finally cratered (broke the front band, wadded it beside the drum). it was nasty. I got it runable and traded her.



dave, the way they screw you over at a dealer, that's not a bad idea... but what made this so funny was I didn't intentionally destroy the pump, but I knew it was on it's way out.



BTW, if anyone needs an accessory from an 01, I've probably got it laying around... just PM or e-mail me if you need something. I have my edge comp, Complete twin setup, turbo exhaust housing, and Jensen stereo head unit in the classifieds. I also have another big Garret turbo for a dual turbo setup (hellacious flow), assorted exhaust parts (custom and stock), an inline bosch pump for a 12v, and other assorted parts. If anyone is interested, let me know. I'd even be willing to crate it all together as a package deal just to get it out of my way.

Now, what did U go and do that for??? Trade Ol Thunder in... . And I was about to send you some info on a truck pull in Corsicana Friday night... . The Antiqu pull is this Saturday, and we are going to pull some trucks Friday night. . I thought Ol Blue might make a showing. . but I guss that's not going to happen...

Well. . good luck with the new ride. . I haven't gotten to ride in one of the 600's yet... I guess one day I"ll have to breakdown and buy a new one. . but U know how long it took me to buy Silver. . she's only got 114,00 on her now. . and still in need of a clutch...

Sounds like Blue left just in time... I like the new trucks. . have a hard time with the interior. . but I like the new Gauges... Scott Powers bought one. . but its got a Hemi. . good HP no torque. . and no fuel mileage. . . I wonder how long it will take them to figure out it doesn't have the correct trany. . haha... (not that it matters. )

Sure beats the '96 GMC 2 ton I drive to work every day. Poor thing has a CAT 3116 (200HP/ NO TRQ) and a 5 speed transmission with a 2 speed rear diff. Loaded with all the equipment, it won't take off uphill under it's own power Anyone know how to turn up the power?
