The SIG below is now outdated (and I've temporarily forgotten how to change it. )

Picked up truck in OR, and put 3500 Mi on the first week.

Anyhow, here goes:

1) Ordered CAMPER package, truck came with slip "this vehicle not recommended for slide in camper" ? Seems strange.

2) Front wheels are now "powder coated" orange/red. Will the brakes continue to "dust" forever, or is this a new truck thing. I think I've been very easy on the brakes.

3) First two time I used the high-beams and tried to switch to low, and the whole thing went dark (except for the parking lights. ) A little wiggle fixed it, and I can't repeat the problem anymore. Anyone else had this happen?

Comment: Call me crazy, but I think this thing gets better gas mileage OFF the freeway than it does ON the freeway. I also think it likes going up/down hills better than flat ground. The Trip Computer distracted me from a lot of scenery, but watching it drop to 6 (uphill) and going up to 99 (downhill) was pretty cool.

Must also report Computer was about 1/2 MPG low every time so far.

I love 6th GEAR! Sounds like a locomotive.

Never heard that about a 2500 "not recommended for a slide in camper"...

I know of many that own a 2500 and do fine with a camper. If you want, you could add a set of air bags in the rear... several good brands out there. I use air lift bags.

Good Luck with your new Ram!

ProfWonka,

To change profiles go up to top of page and click on "user cp" the rest is up to you.

Do you have long bed or short bed?

I would imagine if you have short bed it would not be rated for a slide in camper.

Do they make 6 1/2' foot slide in campers? That are not custom built?

Congrats on the new truck

#1: I have read this before, but can't remember the reasoning behind it. Eventhough, I have the same package I don't have a slide in and can't help.

#2: Yes, the brake dust will continue. Look into a set of Kleen Wheels.

#3: Never had that problem.

I noted that my MPGs during break-in was all over the place. Do it right and put some weight in it or tow your a$$ off for the first 10K.

Good luck with the new truck:D

I think you need to take the truck in and have the high-beam switch adjusted. I had this problem on my 97 gaser. Ig it happens again, just put it back on high-beam and then pull a little harder to get it in low-beam. Hope this helps!
