New Truck - Is this normal?

Ordered a new truck on 1/26/05. As of this afternoon, it is still in D1 status. Is this normal or is there a hold up with new trucks right now.



I'd like to hear from others who ordered around the same time. What is the present status of your order?

Normal is going crazy while you are waiting for it to be built, and then going totally crazy while it's on the train enroute to the dealer.

You're right... I don't want to be impatient, but I just thought it was unusual for it to still be in D1 after almost 5 weeks. Have a trip planned for the middle of April, and I may have to cancel it if it takes over 10 weeks. Reminds me of the old cartoon of the vulcher sitting in the tree with the caption saying... "Patience he**, I just want to kill something. " :-laf

i ordered a 3500 0n feb 18, 05. stoped by the dealer yesterday, i think it had a D2 status, it had a VIN assigned. build date was 3/3/05.

Yes , what Klenger said. I remember well the anticipation as those 7 weeks went buy, I've had mine just over a year now and still . You can call DM and get the train car # and track it once it makes it to Texas , It'll drive you crazy.

Mine sat in the lot after the train for almost 2 weeks.



Klenger truck was 1 truck ahead of mine on the line BTW , If I remember right his vin ended 447 , mine 449.

when waiting for my previous truck, an 03 dually which I had setup to take delivery in Yuma to get around the CA smog crap I rode my BMW dualsport over to AZ three weeks in a row and rode up and down the train tracks on both sides of Yuma for many miles looking to see if my truck was sitting on a flatbed railcar since the railcar tracker stopped tracking it several weeks before--I guess I had just about figured it was hijacked and then I found out that they all got unloaded at some obscure railyard in the PHX area and were trucked to Yuma---bout drove me crazy and my girlfriend had decided I had a major mental problem--bought last truck out of stock at Dave Smith motors in Idaho but not sure her opinion has changed any!!!

I tried to work a deal with Dave Smith, but they really want you to buy from their stock. They order hundreds of trucks and order them the way they think most people will settle for. As an example... In addition to the items in my signature, I wanted the "security group, light group, Big Horn. " They did not have a truck on their lot that would fit that. They said they just didn't order spec trucks with all those options, combined. I would even have settled for a different color, but they just didn't have it. Would have had to special order it, and my local dealer was willing to do that and actually came very close to beating Dave Smiths price at the time I ordered it. Why order from Idaho, when I can do it locally? Don't get me wrong... Dave Smith is a high volume dealer and usually has the best price around. But if you want one from them, and their stock, you're going to get it the way they order most of them, and settle for less (or maybe a lot more) then you wanted...

Ray... Don't want to burst you bubble but I don't think there is a D2 status... As an aside... Dealer told me yesterday my truck was in D1. He did some checking and now says it has a rail date and should be here between the 20th-25th of March. That will be close to 8 weeks, so we will just hang tight and see what happens...

My VIN ends in 87447. I've had it for 13 months now. Best part of the purchase was getting $2000 cash back and 0. 0% for 48 months. I've never seen that offered before or since.

Ordered my new truck 12-15-04 and was driving it off the dealer lot 2-2-05 and they already had it a few days, this is with CHRISTmas even.

Well the only thing I have ordered that is even close to this list is the DEG 6 speed transmission. The hold indicated in your post is for a (DEJ) 6-spd manual. Unless they have changed the code, I should be okay...
