The po was running 255/85R16 Big O tires that he said he only got about 11k miles out of #@$%! I've seen a lot of 235/85's out there but not many 255/85's My question is does the taller tire really help with mpg and rpm's? I do have the 4. 10's. I haven't driven with the 235's so not sure of how much a difference there would be. Are the gains worth it or should I just run the 235/85's?

Edit: The po also had spacers put on so he could run the 255's

On the wife's old 2000, we put 255/85-16 Cooper discoverer S/T's w/no spacers. We had no problems pulling our trailers. They definitely looked better. Hers had the 3. 54's. Didn't really notice any improvement in MPG, or RPM. Hers also had 265/75-16's before so not that big of a difference in height.

Over 65 it will drop the RPM by a couple hundred. Other than that I have not noticed a large diffrence in the two sizes.

If you run the coopers mentioned above you will not need the spacers. They are the only tire with the profile to fit without the spacers.

Discount wheel warehouse has the cooper discoverer s/t 235/85R16's 6 for $702. Shipping is $117= $819. Still have to pay to have them mounted. They offer the 255's but doesn't seem worth the extra $20 a tire.

Under $900 mounted and balanced seems like a good price. Anyone know of any cheaper? Suppose I could try to do a price match at a local store?

I hate to listen to the RPMs over about 2200, but i wont drive 65 either so it would be worth the 20 bucks for me. I dont know if you tow heavy loads or not, but you might look at the 19. 5 wheels and tires. Rickson has the complete package for 3,500 dollars. It is a ton of money to cough up but I think it is my next purchase when these tires are done.

My '99 has 215/85s... think i will put 235s on it next time, the 215s combined with the 4. 10 rear... RPMs are cranking to do 70. I like the 235s (have them on the '00) a good compromise for me, get decent mpg and still get good power for pulling.

19. 5 Ricksons is the way to go if you don't mind parting with your money but in the long run then end up paying for themselves :D:D:D:D:D

:--)

That is a lot to cough up

I'm not on the highway much, so rpm's aren't a big concern. I'm not towing the skid steer to often either, so I think the 235's would be fine but I'll probably end up going with the 255's. Toyo m-55s or Cooper discoverers s/t?????? Is the Toyo worth the extr*****?

Check the width on the Toyos, I know the Cooper will work without spacers. I guess if you have the spacers on it wont matter. As far as paying the extra, i like the Coopers more than the Toyos. Just my 2 cents

Well it looks like I'm gonna be going with Michelin LTX 235/85R16's. Found 6 used ones off another dually with about 90% tread left for $400:D
