Thanks, TDR Staff

Just a rumor??

Just saw an '06 Mega Cab LWB Dually!!!!

 how many of you are disgusted with the prices of new trucks??

I know I will be keeping my 94 till the wheels fall off,or I WIN THE LOTTERY.

no chance of that happening since i don't play. but 45. 000 for a new truck!!

I test drove a new ram about a year ago and was impressed with everything but the price. seems as if the automakers are trying to make their vehicles only affordable to those with large incomes.

When are they gonna make them more affordable to the average joe so he can have one and not have to sell his house to be able to have a newer vehicle???

1994 2500 slt 4x4 green 130k 370's KDP done no cat ,straight piped.

Better watch out dealing with Tommeygun. He got me in trouble with my local dealers. I recently purchased a truck from him (2005 3500HD QC NV5600 Dually SLT Bighorn) for a business I am starting. Since I will need another one in a couple of months, I decided to go by my local dealer and get his best price, since it is quite a drive from my home to his dealership (actually on about 450 miles). After I got their best price and picked myself up off the floor from laughing to hard (probably a bad move on my part), I asked how come they could not get another $4000 off the price so I did not have to drive up to get my next one? They all said it was impossible. This time I managed to stay standing, but couldn't stop the giggle from coming out. I said it could and would be once again when I ordered my next one. So he started this, "Ours must be more equipped!" argument. Again, that darn chuckle could not be muffled. So I took him out to the truck and showed him the window sticker that was in my truck at purchase time. He then commenced to telling me there is no way he sold it to me for that. So, being the packrat I am, I whooped out the old sales contract (covering the dealership name of course) and showed him what I paid. He did everything short of saying I forged it and went storming off. Thanks Tomeygun, I really needed that laugh Saturday! Thanks even more for getting me the best deal in 1000 miles of where I live! ***BTW I am voting TG in '08***.

Do the math, new trucks are not that expensive. When I bought my 95 Dodge/Cummins, CC 4x6, dually I paid $30K, listed at $33K, which was 60% of a years worth of wages. I compared that to my previous truck which was a 71 Ford gasser, which cost me $3,972. I paid 60% worth of one year wages for it. When I purchased my new 05 four months ago guess what, you got it, 60%. What I'm trying to say is that it is all relative to what you earn. I think they call it inflation. I can do the same comparison with the price of gasoline. I don't know about diesel because I didn't have one in the 70's. However, gasoline should cost $4. 00 per gallon when you do the inflation math from the 70's. Grizzly

After corresponding with Tomeygun on a new CTD, I checked with a dealer nearby (Batesville Indiana) via email and said I refused to haggle and to give me his best price for an SLT CTD, 4x4, auto LWB 2500, QC. Just like you Dhorton their "Best price" was 4k more than Tomeygun quotes me. I replied to the dealer and gave them my "other" quoted price and he responded that "We hope you will give us another chance if your 32k truck deal falls through". Reading between the lines one can see his complete and utter disbelief that such a deal exists. :--)

If you shop around, you can find good deals. I know of a place here that has 5 trucks between 27k and 33k. All CTD, 4x4, 2005's. A couple are SLT's too.

We're visiting family in Dallas. The Sunday paper has advertisements from more than one dealer for 3500 QC SLT DRW CTD trucks under $30,000. Can't tell if they are SWB or LWB.

I'll bet they try to add-on other stuff and Texas has 8. 25% sales tax, but the prices here are very good, from what I can tell. When I am finally overcome with lust for a CTD, I'm gonna' have my niece e-mail the ads from the Dallas paper to me and proceed to beat my local Dodge dealer over the head with it.

Or come back out here and buy one here.

Gotta love it

Its alwasy fun to make bets about if the deal is true, Heck get yourself a few free oil filters!!

Tip #1: Don't shop from lMSP. Shop from dealer invoice, and try to discount from there.

Tip #2: Options are optional. If cost is a major concern, skip the leather.

Tip #3: If your current truck is working for you, keep it. :)

Hey Tommygun, if I were to purchase a truck from you and since I live in New Hampshire where there is NO sales tax (and no Income tax), would you still try to charge me sales tax (assuming that Mo. has a sales tax)?

If not, then put me down for a 4X4 ST 4 door 6-speed 5500 Cab/Chassie with a 12' dumping flatbed. Must be a 24K GVW.

Let me know when you get one In and I'll take a train over to pick it up.

I do not charge any sales tax... You would pay it to your local DMV when you get back to you state

And about the 5500 series truck... Get in line (right behind me) :D - Cause that would awesome!!!

I am at the moment..... Love the 3500, but the thoughts of getting to step up sure do make the mind scream. I can be patient though. Have to have 2 years with the 3500, before I graduate up the ladder. Maybe there will be a very suitable Cummins equipped Dodge in the 4500 to 6500 range. Would love to have a little more OD in 6th or maybe even a 7th gear.
