New truck sold to me with burnt up......

fuel heater!?! I think that is it. Wiring is melted, cast aluminum intake(?)is black to brown. I am a little ****** . OK way ****** .

It was that way on the lot before I drove it off. Went to my dealer today and I asked the mechanic there to show me around the Motor compartment and when I popped the hood he freaked and told me I was lucky. They had one on the lot catch on fire. Parts will be in friday.

I will call the dealer in Northern California tomorrow and tell him what I think. I live in SoCalifornia.

I hope nothing else was hurt.

Sorry I even posted this, I am venting.

sounds like grid heater, if so did you notice the voltmeter never making 14 volts?

to bad to hear though, anything not cosmetic is always fixable

Grid Heater. If you short that puppy it's like laying a screwdriver across battery terminals (actually, the grid heater connections are essentially remote battery terminals when engaged). Stuff will melt for sure! I bet someone left them disconnected thinking they were just ground wires (or connected them on the same spot) then when it got cold and they came on for once ... ... fiiizzzzzzttttttt ... ... poof! #ad
