Looking at purchasing a new 2002 Dodge diesel. I have a 95 2500 right now that is in good shape but I just got the bug to get a new one. My question is:

I have the booklet from the dealer and I'm trying to decide on a 2500 or a 3500. We pull a 40' enclosed trailer with two race cars to the track most every week. The 2500 GCWR is 20,000 while the 3500 is only 1500 lbs more. What is the difference in pulling this trailer with the two different models?

From what I've heard the 3500 is much more stable with a heavy trailer. It's not really the difference in weight ratings, but how the truck can handle the weight. Someone who knows more will chime in and give you more info.

BTW, my friend used to go by stockcaracer99. He races roundy-round and his car is number 99. What kind of cars do you have?

What he said! The 3500 with dual wheels is the way to go for the bigger trailers. Lots of stability side to side, cross wind resistance, safety if one rear blows. If you only tow very little maybe you don't need it, but duals are sure nice when your pulling.

Brian,

My son and I race mini stocks on a dirt track here in Alvin and other tracks in the area. We're selling them right now and moving up to the modified class. MORE POWER!!

Thanks for the info. I'll probably go with the 3500. There really isn't that much difference in the price
