Guys,

Big Don here. I usually hang out in the first gen area, but two weeks ago I picked up a new toy. It is a 2000 3/4 ton 4x4 quad cab short bed. The truck is a 6 speed, but has the 235 hp engine (not the HO). 3. 54 gears and it is an SLT. I really like it. It has 33,000 miles on it and the orginal owner ordered the truck new and has towed a bass boat with it some. Truck is in excellent condition. I cannot find anything wrong with it except (this is being very picky) I think the area around the key on the steering column should light up when I open the door, but it does not work. Is this a warranty thing or is there a lightbulb I should replace????

Another question, is there anything I should look for that may go wrong with the truck. I am replacing the fuel filter and checking lift pump pressure. I have already installed a K&N and a power edge EZ.

Let me know if there is anything I need to check for any TSB's etc. etc.

thanks

For a short time yes they were available. Wonder exactly how many were made that way?

kchistopher,

The 245hp HO motor w/6spd didn't come out until the 2001 model year, but in late 99 and 2000 the 6spd trans was available in very limited numbers, and they came with the 235 std engine. I have one.

Big Don,

Take a look through Fritz's website, there's is a recall on the lift pumps for the 2000 year trucks only, but it depends on which engine serial number yours has. There was also a recall on a few trucks on the front axle housing.

big Don hope you like the new truck I just had a new fuel tank put in my 2000, I felt a bump when the tank was just under full when you came to a stop(fuel slosh) this is covered under a (tsb) techical service bulletins for that year, look in the tdr magazine issue 34 nov/dec/jan page 92, do this before 36,000 to make sure it's covered:D
