So i have had some issues with my 05 with algie etc, well its pretty bad, so heres the deal, the dealer has an 07 QC CTD larime etc, truck is missing a few options that i would take off of my 05 such as towing mirrors etc, well if iget this truck my payment would go up 14 bucks a month and a year longer, so in the long run the new truck would cost me 1600 bucks over 6 years vs keeping my 05, the thing is do i take a gamble and hope that nothing else is messed up on my 05 cuz of the algie or do i say the heck with it and move on to a truck that is 3 years newer? i am thinking about buying this truck. My other question is who ever ordered this 07 didnt order it with trailer hitch and 7 pin wiring i know the wiring kit is avail. someone added the "bolt on" mopar hitch, is this as rugged as the factory?? this is one of my concerns, also i do have the ability to weld it to the factory cross tube, iam thinking about doing this if i buy the truck. so any thought would be helpful, also any major issues as far as the 07s are concerend?? thanks

I'd get the '07. I did actually and I'm really happy with it compared to my '03.

I'd use the lack of a hitch as an excuse to get a Titan hitch that is much stronger than stock.

My '07 along with many others has the surging cruise control when there is no load on the engine. It is getting annoying.

So I think of it this way. If all things are equal -and I think a bolt on hitch would be OK as long as the capacaties of the truck are not exceeded- then is $1600 worth the extension of a warranty that you would get?

If it wasn't ordered with the towing package, it may have other items missing that you might want if you are going to tow. Check the 07 out very closely to see if will work for you.

it doesnt have the 7 pin wiring harness, or the factory weld on hitch, no trailer tow mirrors, i need to look and see if the plug in is there from my brake controller, other than that i am happy with the truck, i think i gonna try to make the dealer let me keep the running boards on the old truck and le me swap out the mirrors, if not than i will have to take the running boards off and try to sell them for some money to put towards trailer tow.

It sounds like a good deal but if it didn't come with the tow package the brake control wiring is probably not under the dash. Use these things to get the dealer to lower the price and if they're not willing to lower the price tell them you want them to install the tow mirrors. Sometimes they're willing to add accessories rather than lower the price because the dealer can get them cheap. Especially something like tow mirrors which they sell in the parts department.

I'm confused by your math. You say it will only cost another $1600 but a years worth of payments has to be a lot more than that doesn't it? And, what about the sales tax?

If it's really only going to be $1600 overall I would go for it!

DSpears, You found a dealer in NH that will give you a decent deal!! When I went looking in '05 they wouldn't budge. I ended up taking a trip to St. Louis...

Do you know what caused the algae problem in your '05? Hate to have the same thing happen on the '07 and have the dealer say sorry no warranty, fuel problem...

As Prairie Dog says if the total cost is only $1600 and it can easily be upgraded to your towing needs, why not. Don't forget how much more expensive it is to register a new vehicle in NH compared to one that is a couple of years old.

ya the dealer i bought it from is the same one we have been doing business for years with bought 3 trucks and jeep from them and now this truck, so they know they have a pleased customer, yes looking at it i can set it up for my towing needs, i will weld on the receiver hitch, i'll purchase 7 pin wiring harness and the trailer tow mirrors, i will also have to wire in my brake controller because the plug is not there, no big deal just some time for me to spend with the new truck and get to know her :) , also the added cost for me to transfer my current plates will be like 200 bucks, my insurance is only going up like 200-300 bucks this year so all around its not as bad as i thought.

we dont have sales tax but its expensive to register, i know when i bought my 05 brand new it was 550 to register well this year it was only 400 bucks or something, but it goes down as the truck gets older etc, if anyone in the mass/nh area wants or is looking at getting a new truck PM and i will give you the dealers name and phone number to call, also i will put you in direct contact with the owner of the dealership, thats who i deal with, no salespeople i go right to the big boss. cant wait to pick it up tomorrow after work, i was out in my garage stipping stuff off of my old until like 12:30 LAST NIGHT and i have been working on getting the rest of the stuff off this AM, i was gonna take my vent visors and chrome handle covers off but i dont think they are gonna come off in one piece, new vent visors are like 45 bucks and the chrome handle covers i am not sure if i would put them on the new truck, they cost me about 125 bucks so i think if i want them again i will just buy them. Its amaziing at how much stuff i really have on this truck it NEVER ENDS!!!

thanks for the comments and help

I bought an 06 on Dec 1 3500 SRW that didn't have the factory tow package either. I really didn't care as I never use the receiver hitch anyway, I pull all goosenecks. THe guys I had install my hitch also did my wiring and it was a piece of cake. .

yes it would be, Lake view Dodge, wonderful to deal with,if you know who to go too, i generally dont deal with the salesmen just the owner, where are you from anyways diesel dually?

Currently living in Loudon. I work out of Concord, but do get up that way quite often.

Have you picked up the new truck yet?

Do you know what caused the algae problem in the '05?

ya i did pick up the 07 gotta start a gallery update my info etc, the algae problem was caused by a bad tank or maybe more of fuel, when well they were unsure, so with this new one i am going to treat the tank once a month to a biocide, i assume that is going to often enough.
