I ordered my SLT+ RAM on 1/29/02 and am excitedly waiting for it. I called DC yesterday and was told it was being built in Mexico and that it is still a paper truck... . 4 to six weeks out.

Question: What should I look for when it is delivered? Here is my list so far... ... Windshield tint, Rear Wheel Well enclosure, and the 'A' pillar handle..... anything else?

I also ordered my truck then too... I'm guessing that mine is going to be built in MX too... bummer, just means it's going to be that much longer of a wait for it to be delivered. Where you located at and what did you order?

Michael

Patriot Blue 2500 SLT+, Auto (I'm Lazy), 3. 54, LB for my Lance Camper, Sliding Rear Window, HD Transfer Case, Camper Special, Trailer Tow.

I was soooooo happy to get rid of my 1990 Ford Gas Guzzling, transmission Blowing, paint peeling heap. I just hope the Dodge/Cummins proves me right.

I was honestly looking at the Chevy due to it's Allison transmission, but I couldn't take spending the extra money for IFS!

Weatherbyman,

I also looked at the Chevy but am glad I didn't go for it. We liked the Dodge alot better. The Chevy seemed cheap. And now that I have it WOW:D it is fantastic. :D Did I mentioned how nice my truck is. :D It also came out of south of the border. :D

Thanks Ken! This will definitely help..... didn't realize that I should do all of that! I am specifically interested in the Mexican assembly problems that I have been reading about in other posts... . specifically: The Windshield not having the tint strip, the Passenger's A pillar missing the grab handle and the Rear Wheel Wells not having their internal enclosures. I was just wondering if there is anything else to look for that guys have found missing from their new trucks from our southern neighbors.

Can you tell I am excited?:D

The quality of the Mexican trucks is very good. At least that's been my experience with the two that I bought, and also from reports from the TDR in the past. The ommisions on the '02s seem to be part of DC's cost cutting, not Mexican production.

I ordered my truck on 12-31-01 and took delivery on 1-31-02

it took 4 weeks and 2 days to get to the dealers lot. There won't be the liner under the hood either. The finish of my truck seems very good. The Graphite color is really nice. Good luck with the new truck. Jeff

Sorry Snow King

Just to be contradictory, I think your gear choice is best UNLESS you will be towing heavy loads a lot. I rarely tow, and the 3. 54 was great around town and freeway.

Biggest variance in gear choice is those who tow a large load frequently prefer the 4. 10, and those who run unloaded prefer the 3. 54...

If I am unhappy with the gears, I can always change them... . I would have liked more options..... such as 3. 73 or somewhere in there. I had 4. 10 gears in my Ford F250 with the 460 and the E40D. I would have liked higher ones since I found myself hauling/towing in mostly Drive with the OD off... since the transmission sucked so bad... Pretty high RPMs there. I think that once I get my new transmission 'fixed' by DTT, I'll be in good shape.

I ordered mine 12/31/01. Built in Mexico. As of Friday the 8th it was built and waiting to go to quality control. As of Friday the 15th it was still waiting to go through quality control! Go figure!!!!!!!! Siesta week or something down there? I'm chawing at the bit to get it!!!!!

my truck was made in mexico too, the only thing that was wrong with it was the motor mount bolt on the right side was on but loose, backed off most of the way, other than that, everything else was ok
