:D Just got my new 2002 quad cab SLT. Looks great and runs like a scalded dog, but when I looked under the hood I see it isnt going to be easy to work on like my old 1990. Cant get to anything.

How do you change the fuel filter? I see on the TDR there are a lot of lift pump problems. Is it electric?

The starter doesnt look like it amounts to much. My old one is heaaaavy duty.

My od truck has 240,000+ and still going, but just had to have a quad cab. Have to take those grand kids around ya know.

I guess the next thing I had better do is get the service manual.

Any of you guys near Portland, Or? I'm heading that way and I remember a toy store for trucks there someplace out heading towards Troutville??? Help!

I want to get some nice running boards and Oregon prices should deffinately beat Calif. Oo. Oo.

Hey rockcrusher, the fuel filter is actually a piece of cake compared to older 24 valve models. On our trucks, the top unscrews and the filter lifts right out of the top. Get yourself an 1&1/8 6 point socket and the lid will back right off. Just be aware that the lid is plastic so dont get carried away with tightening it back down. Now go get yourself an EDGE EZ box or a COMP box and some injectors, and you will now know the meaning of running like a scalded dog:D

Oh yeah

forgot to answer lift pump question. Yes they are electric, yes they suck big time. Do yourself and your injection pump a favor. If you only install 1 gauge make it a fuel pressure gauge. Of course boost egt and fuel pressure are my prefference, but the fuel press is a must imho. Stockers break too, not only us crazy bomber guys. and you will generally see a downward trend in fuel pressure before they die, so you will know when it is time to act. hope this helps

Thanks for responses. Someone was telling me there is also a transfere pump in the tank. Is this true?

Thanks you all for the replies. :D We can always rely on our TDR buddies.

I have the 1 1/8 12 point socket so I gues I'm all set for that part. / If the fuel filter just drops in, I guess you dont have to prime it like the old screw ins???

I'm sure I will be haviang more questions as I go along.

I've got it over at Heston's RV repair putting in a new fiver hitch so I can take off for Washington Sunday.

Usually do all that stuff myself, but decided to be lazy for a change and "let george do it".

Thanks again for the info:D :D :D
