New Truck

What do i do?, I ordered a new Dodge Ho 4x4 3500 series and it will be delivered on Jan 25 2004. The sales man no matter how many times I asked him said He new nothing about the new 325 horse and 600 torque engine and it's release date. This dealer is in California and at a dealer ship in Long Beach. What should I do, should I reorder the truck with the new engine and let him sell the one I ordered,or should I just take the old technology and be happy with it.

I would re-order and get the new 325/660 HO engine. Let them sell the other one that you ordered. If I was ordering a brand new truck, I would want all the goodies (especially all that power right from the factory). Since you are in CA, I would definitely want all the extra power that I could get.

Definetly reorder to get the Cummins 600. You are ordering a new truck, why get something old?

I got the news yesteray that I am getting the new 325/600 engine because my truck has'nt been built yet and that all trucks getting built after the new year are going to have the new engine. I'm in stoke heaven.

Note that before you sign any paperwork at all to take ownership, read the id tag on the motor the cummings id tag will state what engine model and the HP and Torq.

Can some tell me how to break in the truck and engine on a new 2004 Dodge cummins truck? Number of miles, at what speed, etc. etc.

Break in

I am by no means experienced in this field; I normally get engines in their twilight years, or at least well broken in. But, I have read here that you want to vary your pedal load, RPMs, etc, to ensure good ring seating. Go he!l for leather down the freeway ramp, then drive normally in traffic, coast down the off ramp, and maybe go slow through the next several lights, then hit it again. The more you work your engine, the faster and better it will break in. DOnt baby it, but dont abuse it either; do that later.



Enjoy it while it is still new. Maybe I'll get an oportunity to buy it in another 10 years.
