anyone know about another new tsb for the tearing door seals? had mine replaced under the last tsb and they are tearing already . only 4,000 miles on my truck

TSB for 2005

My '05 with 2100 mi have already torn, do I need the first TSB or are these the new seals and they've tore as well?

mine were replaced with the new and improved ones from the 1st tsb. i am talking about a new tsb to be soon released with the new-new and i hope finally improved seals.

Major design booboo in my opinion on the way the door corner swings against the area that needs sealing. I gotta think the door/body designers left the seal design for the seal design team and left them with a nightmare.

22,500 on my 04 and no tears yet.

EDIT: Uh... ha ha... uh... I found a small tear today... :-laf

Mine is tearing where the front upper corner of the door drags across the seals. It is on the drivers side just above where the door, hood, and front left corner panel all meet whe the door is closed. I think I will wait for the "soon to be released TSB" mentioned above before I have it fixed. I hope it is released soon as I already have 4200+ miles on the truck in 5 weeks of ownership. Oo. Did I mention, I love this truck! :D

I was on the lookout for this problem when I took delivery. Within a week I saw it happening, and now there is a nice cut(4800Mi). I am torn myself as to weather to get any TSB done. I am thinking now that the "relief" is there for the interference I should leave it alone, haven't seen any leaks yet.

I guess I will wait to see what happens with this updated TSB. I can't believe this major body engineering blunder made it past the hurdles.

I'm curious why it's just some of the trucks and not all.

Wondering the same thing myself. 16,000 on mine and no sign of any chafing or trouble. Maybe there is a rough spot on the door itself where it contacts the weatherstrip??

My 04. 5 lasted 1 week after I rolled off the lot, on both doors! Buddy's about 2 weeks. Really bad QC on this design, it may be the way they are aligning the doors/body on good/bad days in Mexico...

Maybe some silicon grease would be in order to keep the stripping lubed and prevent the tearing... eventhough you shouldn't have to do that in the first place.

Qurstion for you guys who have no problem; When you open the door and as you open it past the detent in the hinge, look at the area where the door frame curls over the A pillar. Does it "flick" the rubber lip seal there? Maybe the trouble doors do have to come up a tad? Alignment looks good though.

HAVE A HAPPY AND HEALTHY THANKSGIVING!!

It happens as soon as as you start opening the door. I think if DC just made a vinly moulded piece that would follow the contour of the moulding and clip on top and bottom. Pretty simple.
