I got an HX-35 off Ebay about a year ago. It was supposed to have been off a 97 3500 with about 87k miles. It was pretty cheap and no one else was bidding, so I got it. From all the inspection that I was capable of, it seemed in good shape.

I sent it off to High Tech Turbo out in Utah, in February. I talked to Paul and told him to look everything over real good and do a Stage III upgrade. He said that it was in good shape and he had it on it's way back to me the day after he got it.

Opening the box when it came back was like Christmas morning. However, as much as I wanted to put it on right then, my schedule and the weather (my truck is too wide to get into the garage) didn't permit it. Today was the day.

Having installed the 16cm housing last summer, and slopping the high temp anti seize compound on everything, the housing came off relatively easy. I couldn't even scrape the old gasket off the oil drain tube, as the heat had fused it to the metal over the years. Sandpaper did the trick.

Everything went together easily and I prelubed the turbo from the top. I disconnected the fuel solenoid and prelubed with the starter. Initial start up revealed no leaks, so I was ready for a test drive.

WOW! I think there is an F-14 under the hood now! I bent the needle on my 30psi boost gauge. Dogs start barking half a mile away now.

Still have to check my pyro temp on the big hill outside of town. Will report further.

Good to hear! Now might be a good time to get one of those parachute assemblies installed at the back of the truck Oo.
