I thought others might be interested in the following responses I received from VA:
Question: You say you don't make mileage claims. But from those customers who comment and say 1 to 2 mpg improvement; are those customers talking about "unloaded" mpg, or "towing" mpg?
VA answer: The spread of the response from our customers and our main distributors now shows a 1-3 mpg improvement in fuel consumption. I have not separated the information to show improvement against "Do you tow?" but the feedback is from both people who do tow and people who don't tow.
Second question: Your product seems to be one of the few that runs clean enough to get
CARB licensing. If the 24 valve Cummins got lower mpg than the 12 valve Cummins, and everyone blames retarded timing forced by clean air standards, then how have you managed to meet the supposedly even "tougher" California standards even with advanced timing?
VA answer: What can I say? We have worked hard to develop a superior product which allows us to fine tune injection timing and fuel delivery. We have then carefully tuned the 24v Cummins engine to give us maximum power and torque within the limits of the CARB tests. I can't comment on the injection timing as compared to the 12v engine, all I know is that what we added to the 24v engine is acceptable to CARB.

I'm still wondering - if VA can increase power and still meet CARB standards, then why does Dodge need a 49 states model? Or is there just one ETH version for all 50 states? But at least I find the other info interesting. Now, if I can just find an HO version VA competitively priced, with the same 60-day money-back guarantee as the EZ, I might have to quick cutting bait and start fishing!
