I have a chance to get a good deal on a ATS Towing valve body, brand spanking new... . I dont want to install a convertor until the transmission is completely shot. Any pros/cons I need to worry about?

Thanks guys

Rick

I dont see the advantage of just installing a valve body, The torq conv is the weak link. but if its a good deal I would certainly buy it for down the road. Just fyi I went with goerand and his vb id around 4 bills custom built dynoed ect. I would not buy that VB unless it was a killer deal. Buy one new it comes with warr ect just my opinion

Brand new unopened box... . $200 Deal? I'm in contact with my venders on a price a towing duty TC... I dont want to dump $$$ in to a TC that might only last 10k miles when my transmission clutchs come apart... My transmission feels solid when the Edge system is off, I get 0 back down, but I beleive I am slipping on level 5 when the TC doesnt want to lock in some where around 3rd gear or 40-60mph when hammering down... .

The valve body will help the trans live longer, I did the opposit than you and

swapped the t/c witha stock v/b. the t/c will get you more of a drastic change in transmission feel. but just putting a v/b in is a big help to these transmissions it will help your trans live longer.

Just make sure the bands are set correctly not too tight and not to loose - set em right on spec. How many miles on the trans?
