Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) New Van Aaken Module, no difference felt.

Just got my Van Aaken module today. Installed it when I got home and took it for a test drive. Didn't feel any different to me. I could only build 20lbs boost, could this be the problem?

Did you install a boost elbow on the turbo. . if not thats why you only have 20 psi.

If you want more boost, etc. You need one check out TDR basement enterprises I think somebody sells them there. Like 15 or 20 last time I checked. well worth it.

what is a boost elbow??? my truck is hitting 26 lbs of boost & I have not touched the turbo.

Bobalos, you hit that much boost b/c of the extra fuel you have (more than a VA and you have a different turbo(HY 35, its a little smaller w/ a 9cm housing) than us manual guys (HX 35 w/ 12 cm housing)... . but your truck should defuel at 22 without out a chip on it... I am assuming that was with the bully dog stuff on there... you would need what is called a j-hook. It holds the waste gate closed until around 32-34 psi. With just my injectors(DD3's) and smarty I could get 32 lbs with no wg mods... but then it would slowly open up and drop down to 23 or so. Waste gate mods stop that.

You could just crimp the line going to your wastegate or drill a hole in your stock boost elbow, but for $15..... its not worth it.

Got a boost elbow ordered and on the way. Did some more driving around today. I guess maybe it is working, it will build boost quickly to 20psi, just seems to want to build more elbow should fix that. I can make the boost gauge jump by blipping the throttle, couldn't do that before. It does run a lot smoother and quieter also.

Got my Boost elbow last night. Took a drive over lunch, I can get it up to 24psi. EGT's come up to 900 pretty quick and then seems to flatten out and creeps up to about 1050. what size injectors can I go up to and still keep it safe?

Those pre turbo temps? Seem pretty cool for having a box on there! I could hit 1350 with my EZ box if I lugged it... . Under normal hard accel 1300 wasn't out of the question...

Bob Wagner will sell you some Mach 1. 6's. Nice combo with the Van Aaken. Your stock clutch's not going to be happy though.
