Ford F-350 and 4R100 Questions?

Lifting a small 5er? Good idea?

I love Texas.

Do you have to pay any other fees to register??

We have a base registration fee and then the municipal excise tax atop that.

The '97 truck for example costs me $150. 00 or so annually to register and will never go any lower.

Mike. :)

Harvey,

Thanks for the link. I don't see the fees for trailers. Do we use the same one as for trucks, or is there a different chart?

Yea, my Parents dont like the fact that youre paying a penalty for options on your vehicle.

Example: 15 YO car came with A/C so you pay more. But the A/c may not even work.

Bill,

I've never heard of a diesel penalty.

Have I missed something?

I went back to prior registration fee charts and don't see it. The 11% Diesel Penalty must have been dropped (gasp! how could they do that?) sometime. However, I did find a 1. 5-2% Diesel Emission Fee, depending on the size of truck, charged at the time of title transfer and collection of the 6. 25% state sales tax.

Bill

Just imagine if Texas levied a grumpy old man fee. Mister Barlow would be charged two, three, four times as much as any other grumpy old man.

For goodness' sake Bill, don't give the State Of Maine any more taxation ideas... .

Mike. :)

Mike,

No, that fee is all we pay. TX doesn't impose a value based tax on automobiles or RVs for private use, just road tax and basic fee all in the single registration fee specified.

Rockranch,

All I know about the new registration fee schedule is in the link I posted. I first learned of the new system apparently going in effect on September 1st from RV Daily News, an RV industry blog I subscribe to. I followed a link from the blog to the Houston Chronicle where a news article briefed it and then followed their link to the TXDMV website I posted.

I'm guessing local court house tax collector offices will have the details . . . soon if not already.

Bill,

I've never heard of and don't think I've ever paid that diesel penalty tax. I usually look over my registration receipt. It must have been before my time or perhaps applies to only certain counties like Travis, Dallas, or Harris. Maybe it was abolished prior to June '01 when I bought my first Ram 3500.

Guldam,

When (if?) you grow up, come back and post something useful and relevant to the discussion.

I noticed that they have jaclked up the road and bridge addition on each vehicle registration to $10. 00. Is that state wide or just here in Jefferson county? bg

BG,

I didn't see that fee on the link I posted above. Did you find it on the new chart or did you get that locally?

No, it's not on the link. just renewed the license on tha car, the Dodge, one utility trailer and the TT and it's $10. 00 exrtra on each. It's a county fee evidently so may not be statewide. bg

Maybe Jefferson County residents are paying for the new bridge from Port Arthur to Bridge City or the bridge across the intercoastal canal to Pleasure Island?

Yeah they have been re-doing some small bridges in the county since the hurricanes. If they have a surplus there is always the money hole (Ford Park) they can pour it in. bg
