I'm new to the TDR and am in the process of looking for a new truck. My question is simple, I hope. Is it too late in the 2002 model year to order a truck from the factory? I was under the impression dealers could take orders until the middle of June. TIA a hopeful new Dodge diesel owner.

Its getting close, if not already past the deadline. I guess you could submit an order and see if the factory takes it. I'd do it as soon as possible tho.

I submitted an order for a 2001. 5 on May 8, 2001. On May 15, Dodge sent the dealer a notification that production on the 2001's had stopped. I ordered my 2002 on June 28, it was built on August 1 and delivered on August 15, 2001.

You might check with your dealer's fleet manager about cutoff dates. That's who I worked with in ordering mine.

PS don't tell yer wife about this site!:-laf :-laf

Well the sad news is it is too late to order a 2002 model. May 8th was the cut off day. Just my luck, a day late and a buck three eighty short. :( Looks like I'll have to take my chances on finding one already out there. Now my problem is in this area of the country the only thing any dealer has is 4WD and I don't have a need for that. Maybe a dealer out in OK or TX has what I'm looking for? Anyone have any dealer names, and or phone numbers out that way? And no wife to worry about when it's time to "upgrade. " :)

Try Hendon Dodge out of Madisonville TX, they sell most of their trucks over the phone. . Last time I was by there they had 100 CTD, and that was on the lot before U got to the dealership. . Not sure what they have now. . but they can usually find what U want. . Good luck. .

Henson Dodge

After not having any luck with any of the "local" dealers here in WV and northern VA I looked elsewhere. I searched high and low and found two dealers. The one mentioned by TractorNut in his message was Henson Dodge in Madisonville TX. The other dealer whose name I saw here was Mark Roberts Motors in Bartlesville OK. I talked with B. J. Gallatin at Henson Dodge and Mark Loosen at Mark Roberts Motors. Both were very cordial and upfront. B. J. won out in this "war" as the truck he had did have more of what I wanted and less of what I didn't want. But I would recommend either as good guys to deal with. So now on Tuesday after I talk to my credit union and insurance agent I'm off on a road trip to TX to pick up my new truck. It's a white 2500 SLT Quad Cab with the HO and 6-speed. Guess I better get my left leg in shape to push in that clutch. Been driving autos too long now. So if everything goes right I should be headed back to WV on Thursday in my new truck. :D

Johnmoore, You don't have to worry about excercising your leg for the clutch since it is very easy to engage. Also would like to say congrates on the truck you will love it and nice color choice too :) .

Hey John. . I'm gald they could help you out... We have talked with them many times and friends have bought trucks from them... some how we have never bought a truck from them... You'll have a great drive home... (windows down... U should probably have the muffler removed in Madisonville for better tunes on the ways home... hahaa. . ) Congrads again on the new truck...
