Just a question to toss out there. Does anyone know of any other OEM use of the New Venture 5600 besides Dodge??

Other use

It supposedly is used behind a big Chevy gasser in heavy duty applications. New Venture gear is co-owned by Chrysler and GM. Or was at one time. They are also the source of the Delphi steering gear box. They don't use the Saginaw name anymore.

this is true from what I have heard. The mid 90's chevys and dodges all have the same 5spd and more recently 6spd transmission's. some of the older dodges like early ninety's also have the same transfer case as the older chevys. A friend of mine has an 87 chevy which has the same transfer case my old 92 ctd had. Just my $. 02

Very well could be never drove a 6spd Durapuke so I wouldn't know. Just going on what I was told. (No interest in driving one either I can light my tires after getting up to 25 in third by flattening the pedal. That is all I need to know for what trucks are capable of doing the most:D :D )

"New Venture gear is co-owned by Chrysler and GM. Or was at one time. "

Correct. The company's name was New Process Gear (owned by DC) until the "New Venture" started with GM. The relationship with GM dissolved a year or so ago. The worry around Syracuse, where one of the NVG plants employees nearly 4000 people, is that the company will be sold. The other plant in in Muncie, Indiana.

I believe the Syracuse plant primarily makes transfer cases (for GM, DC, and others) and they used to make the 5 speed manuals for DC small vehicle line (shadows, sundances). I don't know if they make transmission for the Neon/PT cruiser.
