Yesterday I had to replace both my water pump and idler with 51600 on the truck. I know things happen but that seems a little soon to be haveing water pumps and pulley bearings going out. I've only had this truck about 3 months and put 7000 miles on it since I bought it.

I can tell you that the truck had never been worked at all before I bought it. It had never hauled much of a load and never even had a hitch in the receiver. I guess my question is, is this something that happens with these third generation trucks or is should I just file it under sh*** happens? Or is this a possible sign of things to come, I hope not.

Thanks for any thoughts,

Dale

I wouldn't panic. I just did mine at 118 000 km (you'll have to do the math!!) But I don't consider it a major failure, just one of those minor mechanical glitches that come up once in a while. :)

Mine just started screaming at 54,000 miles... still under warranty thankfully! Second trip to the dealer in two weeks (lift pump last time) But these are the first issues I have ever had since new

Well it sounds like I'm not the only one and I guess that gives me some comfort.

I still have my stock lift pump so far. I will be putting a fuel pressure guage on in the next few weeks so I can see when the lift pump starts to give in. I think I'll go after market for that when it's time. Probably a FASS or Air Dog pump will be in my future.

Thanks for the reply's
