"Dodge has a parts number system , Cummins has a parts number system and the number are not the same pump with AA after number is a Dodge the pump number ending with 105 is Cummins. "

THAT brings up an interesting point - some of us have blamed DC for a poor installation point for the pump, as well as a poorly designed pump itself... NOW, if Cummins THEMSELVES use this pump in various installations of our engines, where and how do THEY install the pump - or are THEIR other 24 valve applications experiencing a high failure rate too?

Apparently, it's NOT just a DC issue...

Gary, I was in Cummins buying oil/filters, etc. and their mechanic was at the the desk. Got to talking a bit and he says they are replacing lots of lift pumps on ISB's, and injector pumps as well due to the lift pump. This is on school buses, equipment, etc.

Sounds like it's not just Dodge installations that have problems.

new pump #

FYI When I purchased my new pump the Cummins guy wouldn't sell me one unless I gave him my engine ser. #. He said he didn't care what year it was, They go strickly by ser. #. Kit,pump part # was 3990082. I also bought it @ Cummins West and it came as kit W/new harness. Mfg date was 4/19/02

MAN, I realize there are several engine mounting arrangements, front mount, rear mount - BUT, if the fuel tank is in the REAR of one of those buses - or at least lots further away from the engine than it is in our trucks, and they still mount the LP on the engine itself, they would have a LOOOooong way to suck fuel!
