New York registration

Hi Guys,

have just moved my company to New York from Australia , have found first ram 2500 i want in Washington state , is there any issues with buying the truck in Washington and transporting it to New York , if it is the new 600 series deisel , the dealer thinks this could be a problem getting it registed

any help would be appreciated .

In San Antonio Texas also Buffalo New York a year or so ago, on asking dealer of buying a Dodge Cummins Diesel, as I reside in California, each time, they said they could order a California Legal vehicle without any trouble, probably how informed the dealer is. Seems the 2004. 5 are EPA approved in all States. Could check with any New York Department of Motor Vehicles. (DMV) Just a phone call away, ask name and position of answerer, just in case. Could be a problem if NY requires the NAE emissions as in California. I suspect that they do because prior to the 04. 5 NY only allowed the 235 SO as in Cal. You may want to call NY DMV so that you wont get stuck. Or, you could register in another state by starting an LLC (dummy company) and registering to the LLC which is what I was going to do so that I could get an HO prior to the 04. 5.

If it is a used vehicle you should have no trouble if it is new you should be able to get a better deal local than what freight would cost to get a vehcile transported 1500+ miles and you could have the emissions issue.



If you search a memebr discovered that the real difference in the CA truck and the 49 truck(well I guess it is not really 49 any more 45 maybe) is that the emissions and engine are the same but there is a light/sensor/computer programming that tells if emissions is out of whack that is tripped that CA requires.
