Well I jumped ship... bought my first 24V, an 02 QC long bed 4X4 Auto. It's mostly stock but I think it may have a Superchips? It has a sticker on the side window, and it seems to run well for 3:54s and 33"s. Gets more revs than my stock 12Vs did too. So I'm thinking about bombing it... what box or stack do you guys recommend? A while back I looked at the Edge Drag Comp, and yesterday I was looking at the Juice w/ attitude. What's the diff? The ones I saw were priced the same but the juice comes w/guages? I already have a set of Autometers to put it, and the trans will be comming out for mild mods soon. I have an intake and 5" exhaust to go on it too. (I've also heard the turbo sucks but I suppose that's a whole new post!) I'm open to any brands. I had read in a search some like the TST/Smarty. Does smarty require a loptop? Any input would be great, and BTW it's just a driver, lite towing. No drags or pulls, just me and my heavy right foot...

Smarty doesn't require a laptop, unless you want to update the Smarty itself.

See my sig for my combo. 4" exhaust will (hopefully) be going in this weekend - my sticks and Comp seem to run a bit hot :) . May also need a new turbo.

EDIT: Except for the EGTs, I love my current combo: Smarty/Comp/Mach4s (and the required clutch)

Edge Juice w/ Attitude is pretty cool for our truck - turbo cool down timer, fuel pressure, transmission temp and several other cool features. Very smooth driving too and very stackable with the Smarty.

Make sure to modify your fuel system before attempting to install a fueling box. I have tried alot of tuners/boxes & would definately recommend smarty as a first upgrade. I have a loaner from Bob Wagner that I am trying out as we speak. It is one of those "gotta have" mods for anyone who likes playing with the ricers. The edge drag is a great box, but it doesn't have the options of the juice or the attitude either. You seem to have done your research & are on the right path. I'd do the fuel system first though, because the $1000 vp44 can pay for alot of mods.

drag comp holds fueling untill 3200rpm, the comp defuels at 2700 and the juice is baisicly a comp with gauges, hot juice is a drag comp with gauges.

Thanks! Keep the info comming, I'm soaking it all up... .

Check out www.edgeproducts.com & you will get all the info that you need. My brother just bought a 98. 5 ctd from a retired traveler & it has a comp in it. He said that he don't need all that extra power & he may sell it. The guy that he bought the truck from is a good friend & he said that he only had the edge on maybe 3 times on level 1. It's like new. If you are interested... Let me know.

I thought that the box said 98. 5-02. I may be wrong. Does the02 take a different box altogether or just a extra plug?

the comp is for those years, but the map sensor connectors are different and so are the voltages, so it has to be comp for those years. meaning 98. 5-00 and 01-02

I'm going to put a Walbro pump on my truck and gauges and was wondering how the TST Powermax 3 works for heavy towing (32,000 Lbs)? :D

I have another question... how do know for sure if this truck already has some sort of box on it, and will it need to be removed b/f I add another???

If It has a power box you'll See it under the hood. Mine is velcroed to the fuse bux top.

I run an EZ with rv275s and really like the combo. it the winter i run with the EZ swithed off. ( I put a switch in line with the 2wire diagnostic port so I wouldnt have to go under the hood every time i wanted to turn the box off or on). The Rv injectors have almost as much power as the EZ alone and run a lot quieter than stock with the EZ off. Then for fun or towing I just hit the toggle switch under the steering wheel and go. Switching on the seem to work just fine.
