I'm new to the board, somewhat new to the CTD
, and not at all new to diesels
. Any help appreciated
1. Owned truck for 12k of it's 136k miles. It has a knock or flutter. Seems fuel related, doesn't do it with no throttle. Slight vib at idle in the mirrors. 750 rpm. Strongest and loudest at 1750 rpm light throttle. May go away after hours of running. Worse when cold. Can barely feel it on the pedals and steering wheel. Sounds like light rod knock, but I think it is fuel due to vibration also present, and goes away (along with vibration) at no fuel position. Injector? Delivery valve?
2. What is best 215 pump timing for economy without low end loss below 1750? 16 deg? Who makes the thrust bearing washer tool that you need to start snugging up the pump drive gear after timing it? Is it a must?
3. See sig for current set up. I will work on air and exhaust soon, is 370s next good step with 3000 GSK? Mine does not seem to shut down much until 2800, which is ok for me.
