hello all, Im sure its been gone over before, but I want to add gauges and I like the autometer sport comp, I have read about the electric fuel pressure sending units failing, is the mechanical any more durable, if so has anyone tried the 3313 with isolator for $99 from summit. and what type of fittings do I need to hookup at the bottom of the filter. any advice will be greatly appreciated. also, advice on the tripple A pillar w/tweeter, boost, pyro, fuel. I have been reading here for a short time and it seems to be a great site with alot of info and alot of good people trying to help each other and having fun to boot. sorry so long, I'll do better next time.

tragicwagon,

I think the failures were due to not useing an isolator so you should be o. k. with the electric sending unit since your going to install an isolator. Along with the TDR magazine should have come another mag from geno's garage in there you will find the banjo fitting for your fuel filter where you can connect the isolator. Sorry can not help on the proper fitting as mine is different year and filter but I'am sure someone will, there are alot of great people with great information on this site. I have the triple gauge on the A pillar mount without tweeter and after over a year everything is still working great.

tragic,

I just installed the 4313 (3313's isolator-less cousin). Even though it's a mechanical gauge, I put it in the cab (don't tell anyone!). I used braided steel line, so I'm not worried about it. I heard that the isolator should be mounted at the same level as the gauge, so this could be a bit of a challenge. I plumbed into the bottom of the fuel filter canister with one of Ray's banjo bolts (threaded and tapped). Works great! I mounted mine under the dash - near the transfer case shifter - because my 3 pillar pod is full. It would have been tough with the braided line to put it in the pillar - but it can be done. My pal John put his in the pillar with braided line, but he said it was a tight fit.

Don't worry - not too long and you're doing great!:)

Whats an isolator. I have an SPA electric and i mounted the sender near the battery conected by about one foot of braided steele line. After about a week the sender stared giving wacky readings. 2lb then 44 then 1 then 25 and soo on. Do i need some sort of isolater in line or is remote mounting of the sender enough and my sender is just faulty? thanks.

I used the isolator on my race car a few years ago and I didnt like it. You have to fill it with antifreeze and the fuel pushes on one side of a diaphram and the anti freeze gives the guage a reading. Well there must be something with the anti freeze because the readings would change with differences in temperature. I ditched it and put the mech. gauge on the cowl!:D :D

thank's for the info guys. I orderd the gauge's 3313,3304,3344,from smokin diesel,GREAT SERVICE,good price. I talked to doug (nice guy) he gave me alot of info on the gauges and other parts I asked about (bomb's). I would still appreciate any advice, opinon's,etc on gauge setup and install,if possible I would like to only do it once. thank's.
