New to the TDR, and to the Dodge Ram/Cummings. I just bought a 2000 2500,SLT Laramie,Quadcab 4x4 auto,3. 55. 85,000 miles. I love this truck! Just two questions. 1)When I shut it down it sounds like the motor cuts out faster then everything else and it gives a little chirp. Is this normal? 2) The steering seems to wonder abit. Any advice greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance James2000:D

1) WELCOME to the TDR.

2) Cummins, not Cummings... Cummings is a roofing company where I live, and the ISB CUMMINS is the motor under your hood.

3) Chirp is normal with stock fan belt... if you want to get rid of the chirp, buy a Gatorback belt... personally, I like it.

4) Steering wander has been found to come from two main things... sideload on the output shaft of the steering box, and worn trackbars. I'd say w/ 85k on the truck that your trackbar is shot. Currently I have a group buy deal set up for the DT Trackbar for a small discount over normal cost.

5) Use the search function to find out all you ever wanted to read about the DT Trackbar, or the Napa Trackbar, or Luke's Links (I think that's what they're called).

Again, welcome, and BOMBs away... it's a slippery slope once you start, so watch that first step.

I wonder if you mean wander?

Also check out www.solidsteel.ca . It's a steering stabilizer (code=DSS) and the only product discussed on the TDR that has gotten unanimous approval (almost) from all who have tried it.

Welcome to the TDR!!

My vote is for the Lindstadt fix, nothing bad about the DT, just less $. I have the DSS too and it is great.

Dont ever, ever, ever, did I say ever (?) ask which oil is best :-laf

You'll enjoy this site very much but it is very expensive and soon your sig (modification list) will be longer than your resume ;)
