Well I am finally a Cummins Owner! After spending many years with several different Dodge 4wd gassers I finally was able to purchase a Cummins. Got my hands on a 2010 3500 LB 4x4 CC Laramie. She has 85000 on her and is gorgeous. I have spent time on here reading and have spent some years working on several diesel brands as a part time mechanic. I am a firefighter and therefore am extremely fix it my self minded. Couldn't tell you the last time I took a vehicle to a shop for anything. I also realize there a hundred opinions on oil, air filter, DPF, ERG, etc. etc. I have always run Mobil 1 synthetic oil and Mobil 1 filters exclusively on everything I own. Mobil products have never let me down and my last truck was a

2005 Dodge 1500 CC 4wd with the 4. 7L V8. She didn't get the greatest gas mileage but never ever let me down. When she got totaled by a ditzy teenager she had 265,000 on her, otherwise I would probably still be driving her. So you can see where I come from with trust in Mobil. My question I suppose, is about air intake on the 6. 7 I know not to use the overly expensive filters filled with oil etc. , but is there a better set up than stock and who's? or should I just buy a nice oiless filter for the stock box? I haul extremely heavy loads about 1000 miles in the west Texas heat about 6 times a year. Other than that it's plenty of highway driving. Any and all thoughts are more than appreciated!

Thanks guys and glad to finally have a reason to be here.

Go to genosgarage.com and buy all your filters. They are Fleetguard or Mopar, the best and at a great price.

Leave the truck stock no need to do anything. Just maintain it and enjoy!

Leave the stock box and OEM (Mopar or Geno's) paper filters. They can not be beat. Put in an aftermarket and you are asking for a dust out.

Welcome to TDR piercetruckie, leave her stock and enjoy. I also had several gassers before my first CTD in 04, wow what a difference in torque power!

You also can't go wrong with Baldwin filters made in the USA their fuel filters for the 04-07 5,9 engines were 5 micron where the MOPAR and Fleetguard were 7 or 10 micron. Baldwin spends the time and money to make sure their filters meet or exceed manufactures requirements. And did I say they are made in the USA.

Not so quick Grasshopper!

Look at Geno's Garage you will see the Mopar filter for the 10-13 trucks. It is called NanoNet @ $42. 95 It's outer layer is 5 microns and the inner core is 3 microns!

So as I said stick with Geno's and support the people that own this great web site!

I agree totally about using Geno's Garage for your filters needs. I use them to purchase all of my filters needs from the engine to the transmission and air cleaner.

Now I would wait on using the Mobil synthetic oil for your truck you may find that you will be changing your oil more often than the gasser trucks required. If the 2010 truck is stock the oil changes could be as low as 3500 miles or as high as 7500 miles between changes. The truck will tell you when to change the oil in the EVIC you should only go 500 miles past this notice.

When I was stock my changes in the winter months were around 3000 miles and a max of 4000 miles in the summer when I tow my 5er. The low oil change intervals are due to the emission equipment on board. There are numerous regenerations that take place to clean the DPF and this will lead to fuel dilution of the oil. The regenerations are all driver dependent on the type of driving that you do, city driving more often long all towing less often. Cummins states a maximum of 5% fuel dilution is allow so that is why you may have to change more often. TDR has reviewed the different oil’s that are available and the recommendation from the author is that for the money using non synthetic oil like Shell Rotella-T15W-40 oil is the best for your engine.

Just my $0. 02

Thanks for everyone's thoughts and opinions. I went with Mobil Delvac and a Mobil 1 oil filter for now. May change later after doing some more research. I ordered a Mopar Nanonet fuel filter from Geno's and will most likely order the FASS system by end of the year. Haven't decided what else I plan on changing other than a slight lift and bigger tires. Keep toying with other ideas even though I know better.

Wow! Why the $20 difference between the Fleetguard nanonet and Mopar Nanonet filters at Geno's? I assume they're the exact same unit?
