Giachino:

The dealer needs to "enable" the high idle feature and only takes a few minutes to complete.

Thanks Guys, for the scoop on the grid heaters. :)

Can anyone give the reasoning behind the fast-idle being dealer activated, rather than standard from the factory?

I was just hoping it came from the factory that way on the new ones... . it's stupid they dont.....

I personally just use the smarty, it comes activated on all the softwares.

One question on the Smarty "high idle" Is it available second gen trucks, or is this a 3rd gen thing? And if so, can you borrow someones Smarty to enable it, then return the Smarty without losing the high idle option?

I'm not sure on the 2nd / 3rd gen question (i'd pm bob wagner)... . but you could do what you said... when the truck was returned to stock (so it didnt vin lock), it would still have the high idle enabled... and the latest chrysler flash

I did chase down the voltage drop issue that gave me the code and what the dealer did was to move the trip setting for the lower voltage side so as to not get the code and horn light issue again. It was in fact the grid heater to warm up the intake air...

Real big secret alright, I can't figure for the life of me why the dealer would not want to just tell me that either. LOL...

Found some more out on the 07 6. 7L motor also, you can't pull the codes on these without some sort of a scanner or programmer to read them. Turning the key on and off three times doesn't work on these motors. What did get some interesting things was to turn the key on while holding down the trip reset button. This really got the instrument cluster to cycle through a self check cycle, or so it seemed to me to be so anyway.

I got another code on the truck this week end and a dealer I plan to start using to help me with any work on this Gote' pulled an EGR valve code. We looked that all over really good and all seemed to fine for now so he cleared it and reset everything and if I get any more he told me we would dig into this all.

He also told me he was going to school in the morning for the 6. 7 and that he was looking forward to that. I was excited for him also as I feel now I will get the help and work done on the truck I had hoped for... Things are looking better now:)

The gauge thing with the odometer button works on my 02 also, though, other than being interesting, whats the point?

JF,

I am certain its a check to see what the full range of each of the guages are in relationship to each of the sensors they are hooked to, but I am only guessing... But your right, not much point other than to scare the B-Jesus out of a new truck owner such as myself LOL...

Guys, I had my truck loose from the Gooseneck animal it drags around this afternoon, the Gote' has 7600 miles and change on her now and I can say she is starting to limber up really nicely now... She will from a stop just flat take off and pull extremely hard and fast. Unreal torque and quickness is starting to show up from under the hood she hides under... Sure have to hate that:)
