I feel your pain. I had one belt separate on my tuck with 34k miles on it.. not worth pro rating at the time, so I bought one new and had a unused spare under the truck so put the new Nexens on the steer axle... had 2 more have a belt separations several months later( one being the almost unused spare.. went to the trouble of writing a letter to Nexen USA corporate HQ complete with photos and date codes of tires. . they never responded. have 6 brand new American made Goodyear AT's now. 1200 dollars for 6 out the door price at a legitimate Goodyear company owned store.

needless to say I will never buy a Nexen tire again. LOL this was the slightly used spare, might have had 4000 miles on it . all the tires that failed had a date range within one week of each other. don't know if that had anything to do with it or not but like I said, I will never buy that brand again

All I can say is after 40 years in the tire business Michelin is my go to tire. All tires have the potential to come apart but I see WAY less on the Michelins. BTW Cooper builds most of the tires we sell.

My LT23580R17 Bridgestone Duravis R500 HDs seem to still be doing well at 136K miles. :)

Hey Cummins12V98......how many miles did you get out of your last set of Michelins? ;)

I have a set of Nexens 10 ply on a Ford E-350 van. I run 50 lbs. of air. The van weighs 7300 lbs. with my tools and metal shelving. This is my second set. I buy them through my local Ford dealership, $500 a set, installed. I've gotten good service out of them. I'm guessing about 25k miles. I buy them for the straighter tread design. Especially on the outside edge. Vans are bad to roll the steer tires over and are bad to cup tires. Once they start to cup or "scallop" the outside edge, they are toast.

I was VERY clear that I did have some to do with the tries only getting 40K but yes they were NOT up to the standard I have come to expect. They DID give me $106 X 6 tires to spend on any brand tire I chose. I bought the re designed Defender and I can say for a fact with only 13K on them they will far outlast the last set at 40K.

BTW I would easily get 120K on 3rd gen take offs on my 98 2500 with Michelins and easily over 100K with the BFG's.

Isn't that a brand new tire from Michelin and for you, with no track record yet?

Nick

With over 1/2 million Michelin miles I had one set that did not last as long as they should have. They gave me back about 50% of what I paid so I am NOT complaining. What other manufacturer would have done the same???

BTW I have NEVER had a set of Michelins crack as they are supposedly known to do. Even the rear tires on my VW PU went 150K with near 3/16" tread left.

I took off the factory Nexen's at 46,000 miles. No issues with them at all, other than the fronts were gone on the inside edges thanks to Ram's wonderful alignment specs. The rears had a fair bit of time left... likely 20k more anyhow. I replaced with my go to truck tire, the Cooper AT3... On my 4th set now, and loved every one.
