I was at the Big E this weekend (a state fair in MA) and saw the new 1500 and talked to the PR guy about the 2500 through 5500--yes, 5500 trucks. here's what he said:
- the 2500/3500 will come out in August/Sept. of 2002, as 2003
- the Cummins will leap frog Ford and GM in power
- Cummins will be around for a "long time"--- his words
- the trucks will take their style from the new 1500 and the Power Wagon concept
- there will be an Allison or Mercedes auotmatic
- Dana will be the axle
- the 4500/5500 will come out later, as a 2004, most likely under the Freightliner name plate
There was a Power Wagon on display, that truck is awesome. I'm trying to get my wife perceptive to trading in the 2001 for the 2003 next year, but all I hear is: "you just bought a new truck. "
Any advice on how to get through to her? I mentioned more room for the kids, and that may be the approach to take. I hope this info is helpful.
