I seem to missing oil similar to this thread

Although I seem to losing a little more.

If its the turbo seal, what is involved and the co$t.

Or is this a good time to upgrade the turbo? (silly question to a$k here) have the seal replaced and keep it as a spare.

Pull off the tube going to the intercooler from the turbo and see if it wet inside with oil. If not take the exhaust side loose and check it. If it is dry. Then your oil is going somewhere else.

Most of the time if your putting oil into the intake side you will have a run away. The only way to stop it is to block the intake off with some form of solid material. A thick board or a piece of metal. Do not use a hand or coat or anything that can fold up. A turbo/supercharger will pull it in if the RPM is up.

I saw a guy throw a coat over the intake of a 6/71 Detriot that had ran away. After I replaced the blower assy and pulled the head to clean coat out of the cylinders. The engine ran pretty good. Needless to say that person was promoted to a office job after that little stunt. The engine also had an air shut off on it to. LOL

I wouldn't recommend just a seal replacement. Most of the time when the seal is gone the bearings are loose to. Replace with your favorite size turbo.

1. Do you have any leaks? It dont take much leaked oil to look the Exxon Valdez tanker passed through your garage, though. I was using about a qt every 1200-1500mi; had a time I was going 300mi to the quart, and had oil on the rear axle; until I replaced the cam plug and rear main seal- havent used any in the last 3K. Oo. Gotta drop the transmission and remove the flywheel adpator. Worht the effort, though.

2. What color (if any) is your smoke? though it isnt real common in the B series, a bad injector/ pump can lead to oil consumption. Dont ask me how, I just know i had a 6. 9 that I put new injectors in and cut my oil burning in half.

3. Do you have any blowby at idle? That is the tube coming down beside the starter, that goes into the air under the truck.

Good luck. I'm sure others will chime in here.

no smoke... ... sometimes I can cut loose the diesel d'allspice a little bit when I floor it at 60. The typical poof when you start is about all. I'll check the undercarriage tomorrow. I haven't been under it yet...

If the turbo needs to go, I'll do the ats manifold/turbo/ 4" exhaust install... ... probably a good idea to do all of that in one shot anyway. I hate to do things twice unless I'm being paid :)

The NJ DMV said it will take 2 more weeks to register the damn thing. Its a first gen w/out a country at the moment.
