Hello All, Happy Holidays!

I workin on a 05 quad cab 4x4. It is an auto with 373, Scotty Air Intake, Edge Juice with A2, H2 takeoffs (powder coated Black). Anyway..... we are looking for more power. WHats is the next step to take. I do know the trans is going to need help, just not sure if we should mess with fuel delivery first or jump to the trans. The ultimate goal is big HP over 450 but completely reliably streetable. If you all wouldnt mind list out the next couple of steps any and all info would be helpful.

well going to that HP level you are going to need a transmission for sure. Then maybe get your juice upgraded to the HOT version and then maybe a SPS62 turbo. Not a pro at this or anything but i would bet that that combo would get you fairly close to the 500 mark. I am sure others will chime in as well

I'm in a similar situation. I have the AFE Proguard intake, Edge Juice w/ Attitude, and a Magnaflow muffler. My next move is upgrading the torque converter and valve body on the transmission. Not sure what should come next. I definitely don't want to lose streetability. My wife drives the truck more often than I do, and I don't want to lose reliability either.

Might go with a FASS, maybe a new turbo, not sure about injectors. Any other opinions?

I agree with the trans comments. The 48RE is simply not on the same page as the CTD. It downshifts too early, upshifts too late, and has a TC that borders on worthless. That said, I do believe the 48RE to be a stout unit... . just not set up right for the torque curve of these powerplants. My truck makes incredible power, but much of it is unusable. transmission upgrades are next for me.

Ive heard alot of strange things about the fuel setup in the 05. Told it is completey different than prior years and that the engine pretty much takes what it needs. The fuel pump is bassically there to prime the lines ? So do you need a fuel pump setup or what? I kinda figured worst comes to worse ill put a fuel pressure gage on and see if it draws down to much. If so then add fuel system. Would much rather rely on someone that has been there though

on my 05, i was seeing 3-5 psi driving around on a pretty much stock truck. open air, torque tube, stacks. when i put the quad box on didn't change much. i put on a holley blue and now see 15psi constantly. WOT also. so i would definently look into fuel supply upgrades or at least gauges. thats kind of a given though.

Personally, I think the fuel delivery system in the 05's is sufficient for my needs. Obviously if you're looking for insane power levels, you can suck the rail dry. Me... . I really don't look any farther than the Kore truck that ran the Baja... that truck didn't make insane power. It made safe, reliable power that if I'm not mistaken, won it's class. That's quite a feat for a Diesel. A 600+ HP, 1200+ TQ engine would have never finished the race.

DTT all billet, B1-02-04 Turbo, and the HOTjuice/EZ stack upgrade is what it took for me to feel good. I havent dynoed yet but I should be close to 500 hp and under a 14 second quarter mile. It feels real motivated and its alot of fun to drive. And you will need air intake and exhaust, the fuel systems seems fine on the 05.
