Yet there is not a Re certification required to maintain a PHD or a doctor's degree.

Yet ask your local welder as to what he or she has to do to maintain their credentials. It's in the neighborhood of 6 grand and every two years on a full on recertification from square one.

Pilots are also required to be re-checked at different times. Depending on the type of pilot the checks are at different intervals.

Jet Pilot,

If you can tell us what are some ways you can deal with someone. One of our pilots at work here said if he knew someone was back there that meant to do harm he'd go back to his days as a fighter pilot and bounce them around like ball.

JetPilot,

Thank you for the reassuring posts. As someone who flys on a regular basis for business (usually Northwest or United), I would have been very concerned by the activities on the flight in question.

I always assume there is one air marshal on every flight I take. Without disclosing any "top secrets", can we all assume that the number of air marshals on a flight is proportional to the names/nationalities on the passenger manifest? In other words, because there were at least 14 arab men on this particular flight, would additional air marshals have been assigned in advance just as a normal precaution??

Thanks for keeping us all safe in the air, JP!!! :)

Well for what its worth I spoke with a woman that is good friends with the flight attendant in charge on the flight described. According to her the article is not accurate in any way! In fact the CIA or FBI (don't know which) had very detailed talks with her about the flight verses the article and on almost every point the article is outright wrong.

Just thought I would let everyone know... ... .

I heard on the radio that terrorists were suspected of making "dry runs" on two flights. I believe one of the flight numbers was the one in the article.

Interesting that different people have different stories. All part of intelligence and "mis-information" I suppose. I don't really care if I get the whole story, or how much of it is correct, my active imagination can fill in the blanks rather well.

It sounds like people are working out of sight to keep air travel safe.
