I was in a parking lot yesterday and a '03 QC Dodge Cummins Dually drove by. Saw the Cummins emblem on the side. The exhaust note out the tail pipe sounded just like my '99 with the resonator only on it. Sweet!:D I got to listen to the truck exhaust note as it accelerated out of the parking lot and shifted gears (manual transmission) accelerating down the road. Matched my '99 perfectly!

I did not get a chance to flag him down to find out what his mod was, but it is nice to know that you can still get that same sound out of an 3rd gen Cummins. :) I want one!

There's a possibility it's a stock exhaust. Mine sounds so good I roll the rear window down if I'm passing a concrete barrier or building on the right just so I can hear it. It has a very clear throaty exhaust note with a hint of turbo whistle. Quite a bit more audible than my previous '95, 98, and '01. 5 DC exhausts were. My '03 has no cat or resonator. Just the 4" in and out muffler. If you ain't figgered it out by now I'm real pleased with the sound and volume of my stock '03 exhaust. :D

I'm not fond of the sound of a straight thru on the Cummins but the stock exhaust does sounds nice. I heard someone drive mine away one time and was surprised what it sounded like from behind. Its real throaty, kind of a BB V8 sound.

You should hear it on the dyno when they let off the gas at W. O. T. and it's under compression - awesome!

Within the last week I had a Flowmaster Delta 50 Series Muffler installed on my '03. Sounds great under a hard pull at low rpm's, especially between 1200 and 1400 rpm's or so. Nice deep throaty sound, louder than stock but not too loud, either.

Just a reminder... stock muffler on the 03's is 3. 5" in/out. 4" tailpipe after muffler.

I just installed a 5" system on my truck just a few weeks ago. Nice! It's a true 4" downpipe and all the rest is 5".

Where do you get the 6" tips? Can you get them with a resonator?

Just got back from a 2900 mile/ 3 1/2 day trip to get my B&W GN and 5'er hitches and a trip to a dyno ( I know,I've been told before I'M FREAKIN' NUTS) an hour after I had a Magnaflow 17223 (?) installed along with a 4" downpipe. Sounds just like my '97 did. Pretty much 0 on the resonance scale now!!Oo. Now to get rid of the vibration issues!
